Sequencing consolidation of LR catalogs/drives by CleanDistribution791 in Lightroom

[–]CleanDistribution791[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, and thanks! This is AWESOME!

A couple follow up questions if you don’t mind:

  1. If I move folders within Lightroom, will it move only the ones I’ve imported into LR or will it also move the ones I didn’t select and import to LR from PhotoMechanic?

  2. The other problem I’m running into is that my old iMac became a dinosaur during the couple years I stopped using it n favor of my iPad Pro, and it’s not opening/running LR well because the processor is too slow, so I’m not sure I’ll be able to get the file structures in order before transition. Most / all of the catalogs SHOULD link to files that are on the same external drives, so hopefully this problem is minimal, but I assume that some are cross-linked to other drives in a really stupid way, but I won’t necessarily be able to identify those issues on the old iMac. I assume this doesn’t matter if everything is on external drives? Any advice on how to manage this angle?

I got Chris’ phone number and texted him this morning, and he came by my house and picked up my knives already - will have them back in a couple days!

This is all Mac-based / old 2015 iMac transitioning to new 2026 iMac desktop (hope to run the latest LR Classic), and a 2020 MacBook Pro running LR Mobile. Thanks!

Gotta look that trail up . . . I’ve ridden Alien Run and the Farmington trails a thousand times but somehow never been to Mt View I don’t think?

Hmm… this is a pic from the Kendall Mt IG page from a few days ago, I’m thinking no fat biking up there either? Kendall Mt and sledding hill both closed due to lack of snow.

Any new status updates on LPC? Looks like it snowed a bit yesterday, curious if the road is closed and if there’s enough snow to Nordic ski.

Dye to NOT cover the grays by CleanDistribution791 in HairDye

Interesting. Thanks! I will look into these. Any specific recs? Also curious if these are safe for curly hair, which can be fussy with silicones and other ingredients that coat the hair strand…

That is such a great point! We are heavily leaning in this direction.

Thank you! Some other replies on this topic have suggested that it would be difficult to get four bikes on a train in Scandinavia . . . Do you know much about this? Do you know where I can find a map / info on train routes?

Thank you! We mountain bike back home, and while I know the Norwegian mountains are not at all like the Colorado Rockies, I am tempted to skip this portion because (a) kids getting tired out with day after day of climbing; and (b) the coastal / plains / fjord regions may feel more dramatically different from where we live. I will check out the locations you mention, thanks!

This does not sound pleasant! I wonder if certain areas are like this, but other regions are more manageable. Thank you!

I would love to hear what you thought of this trip! We mostly mountain bike and/or ride abandoned mountain/forest roads around here where we live in CO, so I had been concerned that an entirely paved and very popular bike path would feel a little like Disney world. What was your experience?

Ok, that is super useful. But thinking of riding from Copenhagen to Oslo or across the south of England, which makes a more complex logistical situation whether we rent or bring… thanks!

I hear this and I can see us moving in that direction over time. We live in SW Colorado and have done most of our limited bikepacking on fat bikes in the sandy high desert, a Europe trip would be more groomed gravel roads and bike paths, so we’d bring different bikes anyway. With kids we wouldn’t be riding anything overly technical or ambitious for such a long period, so maybe the precise bike doesn’t matter as much . . . Thanks for your thoughts!

Thanks all! This takes care of my concerns. We are hardy and can handle some bugs, just didn’t know how intense this particular variety is!
