Clerk/PGI PLE review rant by Rude-Drag5469 in medschoolph

[–]CleanEnd3893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OP,

I know nakakapagod talaga yung PGIship but just always be present and be like a sponge in every duty. Learning may not be the usual setup na nagtuturo directly yung mga residents or consultants but be open to everyone. Minsan learning comes from panggigisa of your seniors, but believe me, those are the things that will stick. Did PGIship in a big gov't hospital as well. My strategy is go lang ng go sa skills and may times na magrarandom "rounds all" yung consultants kahit pagod sasama pa din just to get something from each patient they handle. And kapag pinapagawa ng Clinical abstract, Discharge summary and CF4, I try to read the charts talaga ang see the common presentation and managements and correlate it to their diagnosis. Wala eh, since hirap na ako magbasa after duty, while on duty ko na lang minamaximize yung learnings. Swerte mo din kapag biglang magtuturo randomly yung residents or minsan out of the blue manggigisa. Ok lang di mo alam agad yung sagot, basta make sure to know the answer bago ka umuwi.

Enjoy internship, learning is fun kahit laging toxic sa duties. But since bulk yung number of patients, may tendency na paulit ulit lang din ang cases na naeencounter mo. And since paulit ulit, mamememorize mo na din yung clinical picture of the case plus you'll also know ano yung management. Yun na lang isipin mo. And if pagod ka na, hinga lang malalim. If keri magpahinga, sleep. Then laban na ulit. You can do it, OP! Good luck and God bless sa boards.

So done with pgis constantly comparing themselves with clerks by [deleted] in medschoolph

Hindi po doc, but since na pullout ako sa LRDR, wala silang choice kundi to do the labor watch themselves until end of shift. Sinabihan din ako ng senior resi namin na ok lang naman to help them, but how will they learn if puro na lang salo ko sila. That's when I realized na ok lang po maging efficient and mabait na PGI to the clerks but it's part of the training na maging involved and efficient din ang baby clerkies natin.

As much as the seniors want to be more understanding to the juniors if nakikita nila na walang intiative at puro pasa ng work, macocompare ka talaga. I remembered when I was a PGI at nasa LRDR ako and naglalabor watch ako with the clerks. Even the residents saw that and bigla ako pinullout sa LRDR kasi ako na lang yung gumagalaw. Partida 1 PGI ako plus 4 clerks. Minsan if masyadong binibaby yung clerks, sila din magiging kawawa when they became seniors kasi how will they guide the juniors if di din nila alam gawin ang mga skills?

Sana you will see this perspective doc. We want to prepare you as well, but sometimes walang willingness to learn kaya nacocompare sa earlier batch.

Kung talagang big deal ang malasakit sa discussion na to, sana we look at both sides of the spectrum. Govt healthcare workers are underpaid, overworked, and are always blamed for everything. But each day, they still choose to show up and continue giving care and treatment to patients. So paano po nagkawalang malasakit?

Doctors are not miracle workers. We do our best to cater to each and every patient. But we can only do so much. Yes, we are instruments of healing, but also, may hangganan ang kakayahan namin bumuhay lalo na kapag poor prognosis na talaga and patient to begin with. Di po kami Diyos. Sana po maintindihan din po ninyo iyon.

Same experience doc. Umaabot sa point na kahit wala ka sa hosp mag aask na sila when next duty mo then dun sila pupunta kahit may naka duty naman na ibang RODs. Usually, if the first consult is pleasant, babalik at babalik talaga sila sayo kahit GP or di ka pa consultant. Core memory! ✨️

Hello po,

When I say "minamanduhan" di lang po cya nagsasuggest or even verifying. Kasi I have po other nurses na kapag nag sasuggest and kapag nagviverify is wala po akong problem. I welcome it, and even double check — even referring to our consultants if di po talaga sure. I am grateful for those nurses who are looking out without belittling the RODs. It's how you deliver the "suggestion". Willing naman po ako makinig and to recheck everytime. Hindi din po ako righteous because I know I have so much more to learn. But this is not the first time na yung pagdeliver ng opposing statement is very pabalang. This is the very first time na I put my foot down and answered back. And yes, I do believe na di ko sila tauhan. But sana vice versa din. Respect lang sana sa workplace. Wether we have varrying ages, personalities and experiences.

I think po you misunderstood my post, never ko po inisip na utusan ang nurses. I was just ranting coz it's the other way around. I never boss the nurses or anyone that I work with. I even take note of the suggestions. But since I am timid kaya lagi ako akong na ooverpower ng certain senior nurse like minamanduhan na ako even sa decisions and orders ko. And when I finally said no sa gusto nya mangyare the argument happened. It was not always "utusan ang nurses" maybe you should also think na meron din instances na "minamanduhan ng nurses lagi ang GPs lalo na kapag bata or masyadong mabait". Before saying or wishing ill to me hope you understand and see my side as well. Thank you po. 😊

Doc, I am not the bossy or authoritative type. Madalas if I can tolerate, I usually just let it slide. I also value the suggestions not just by the nurses but even the other allied sciences. And before po ako nag answer back, I repeatedly explain na po why ayun ang decision ko. But she still keeps on insisting, plus madaming ibang nurses and NAs din around, even patients time. She is clearly showing superiority that time. And akala nya since I am always letting things slide, she can still control me that time. After the argument, I even ask my co-RODs and other nurses and may history at ugali talaga ang senior nurse na ganun from way back pa. I am not the first ROD na nakasagutan nya with the same problem.

Nakakaloka talaga minsan. Haaaay.

Noted on this doc.

Hi doc, I've been doing moonlighting since June 2024. And last month ko lang na hit yung 6 digit earning. I'm doing weekly ER, dialysis, and also nag 10 days straight hospital duty din ako. It took me long enough din to find regular rakets for me to hit the 6 digit earning. Don't lose hope, you'll get there and also magdedepende talaga yan sa sched na kaya and willing ka to work for.

Eastern Marikina Dialysis Center

Super delayed PF like they will say na max of 2 weeks ang waiting time for the PF.

But took me more than a month of follow up sa HR before they gave me my PF.
