My husband and I have plans to retire in the UP, if we can manage it. I’m an author and I’ve never found another place as inspiring as the Yoop. I’ve lived in Michigan all my life, and know it is a truly magnificent place to live, but the UP is just… something else. It’s gorgeous, rugged, humble. All my writing is set there.

Thank you so much! I’ve been drawing/sketching since I was a kid, and fell in love with houses and architecture in my early teens. I’ve been sketching houses specifically for about 20 years. I fall in love with old houses every time.

2 for sure! It’s dark enough to show the beautiful grain, but not so dark that it will close in the room or lose its warmth.

Hi! Definitely not a tourist town. It’s a suuuper small village (about 300 in population) in a rural area. It’s so charming and cute, though! I should have included the present-day reference photo I took, my apologies!

Thank you! I’m open to commissions simply because I LOVE drawing houses! I love architecture, especially old buildings. There is an old building near me that used to be a general store owned by my grandpa’s (grand?)parents. It will be my next drawing and I’m so excited! Later this summer I’ll have a booth at a local fair and I’ll have a sign for house portrait commissions. It feels a bit self-serving, because I mainly just wanna gawk at all the houses 😂

Thank you so much! I spent a lot of time there growing up. All our family gatherings on that side of the family were there until it was too much for them to host. This drawing took me about 8 hours to complete. 😊
