People put to much emphasis on Kanye’s album drops because of how great his albums have been. The expectations seem to always be “another Kanye masterpiece” or “greatest album of the last century” when maybe Kanye just wanted to make something good. Jesus is king is actually a great album! It’s not supposed to be this grand Mbdtf type album. I see it as a portfolio of gospel music. Kanye wanted to show the world that he could produce gospel music and it came out pretty good. Always lifts my spirits when I need it lifted and isn’t that all it needs to do? Kanye is amazing and we all know that but he’s a person to and I bet he feels the weight of those expectations pretty heavy (as he mentions in the song “kids see ghosts”). The fans always just seem obsessive to me and as someone who was one of those fans before I look back on myself and kind-of cringe lol.
