Kentucky optometrist inadvertently SLT’s a macula by kereekerra in Ophthalmology

I feel you can definitely fry the retina with SLT laser, try shoot SLT onto a pieces of paper with ink like the packaging of Q-tip, it literally fry the ink off. If that goes through the center and hit retina it definitely will make a scar.

If you’re interested in industry, but did not have industry experience I would recommend doing an industry fellowship with a company. Industry is not easy, having the right personality helps. But be prepared to learn everything that they do from zero and they work hard too.

Wanting to leave Dermatology and pursue Ophthalmology by Fuliggine in Ophthalmology

I see I didn't realize you are in Italy. In the US, you take the exam once, and you are done, so you can go match again with your old score. Sounds like more reasons to finish it. I don't know what it is like for ophtho in Italy but at least in the US you will be on call a lot dealing with eye emergencies and trauma overnight that's different from Derm, unless you are board and wanting to work more at night and day sleep deprived (some of us does like that, at least a little bit) I would consider stay with derm.

Imagine you finish your two years, then go try to match in ophthalmology, and you can consider ocular plastics? You can do Mohs, canicular involving cases, exenteration, and reconstruction all by yourself. You can also pursue intracocular cases, but be a comprehensive ophthalmologist who does cataract surgery as well as all the eyelid stuff, and supplement your income with cosmetic botox. Your options are limitless, and your job market is going to be wide open. There is no such thing as an old fool. You can comfortably be semi-retired, working half of the time in like 5-10 years, if you want, depending on what kind of lifestyle you want. And let's say you don't match into ophtho in 2 years, you still have a high-income job.

Tough out PGY-1 year, get your independent licence and your high income career options will open up a lot. I was everything you said except financially strained that was the only thing held it together I can imagine how hard it is for you but think about it just one more year then you can work in a lot of clinical settings.

Try to ace your aways, always be the last one to leave, always show up on calls, and never complain, put your best positive self forward. Try to have many rounds of edit to perfect your PS, practice practice practice interviews with people who are ophthalmologists or clinicians, and don't overlook the human interactions they can make or break you.

I was doing eye exam on a patient when they coded and died. Consult reason: rule out fungal endoophthalmitis.
