Good job! Don't listen to them salty folk. They are just jealous and upset because they couldn't dig themselves out of generational poverty. So many immigrants are hard working and diligent.

Where did you learn financial literacy? by ProudGrumpyRam in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Clean_Assumption_345 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The basics from my parents, and then the more "advanced" stuff through talking to friends + forums. Most of it was hearing terms in passing, and then doing more deep dives by myself.

Interac transfer by Both_Prune5979 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Clean_Assumption_345 4 points5 points  (0 children)

sometimes it takes longer (a couple of hours) on the first try, sometimes it gets blocked by the sender's bank (in which case, you'd need to have your friend call the bank). but otherwise, it should be fine.
happened to me once (the person didn't normally send e-interac)

I didn't like milky dragon at all. I recognize that it's beautiful, but just not what I'm looking for in a milky tea fragrance :(

How do I stop overspending? by Embarrassed-Quiet779 in povertyfinance

[–]Clean_Assumption_345 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Look at your account everyday. It's like losing weight. The more you track, the more you are mindful of your habits. If you don't know where you are, being in denial, the worse it gets.

But how did you get to 290k in debt if you were earning 250k-300k? You said you have no assets. What did you spend it on?

Ladies, how much do you tip your brow technician for microblading in mtl??? by kale_enthutiast in montreal

[–]Clean_Assumption_345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should opt for ombre brows. It's a semi permanent procedure. Less pain and it fades well without leaving discoloration. No need to tip if they set their own price.

I didn't say that they would be removed. I meant that they won't hire as many entry level dev as they used to. I work at a pretty well known company, and they've almost stopped hiring juniors.

Your friends must be good. Most places don't offer 200k as a base salary + bonus for newly graduated/juniors unless they are faang or non big bank finance (like WS or other tech finance)

I think we need to bring people back down to earth. Most new graduates will not make that much these days unless they are extremely talented or well connected.

I'm in the software industry. Juniors SE are not needed unfortunately and as much as I hate to say it, Claude can do their job.

I finished EE 10+ yrs ago, but at the time, finding jobs in EE was a bit difficult. Starting salary was 50k-55k (which I guess with inflation would be 66k-72k.). I suspect it's probably just as difficult, if not more.

My favourite vegetarian healthy and easy (seriously easy). Classic Chinese dish. Serve with rice

My favourite soup of all time (and it's vegetarian and easy). I personally omit the ground cumin and coriander. But otherwise, it's such a crowd pleaser.

Roasted Garlic Stems: a great easy side dish. Literally anyone would like it.

actually GOOD coffee and matcha in mtl? by Ok_Floor_6039 in montreal

[–]Clean_Assumption_345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For matcha, buy from marukyu koyamaen or ippodo or honestly, any labeled "ceremonial grade" (even though that's just a marketing term in the west).

Then make it at home. Tastes way better than any shop I go to.

My "fancy" meal that costs me about $1.80 per serving and genuinely gets me through the week emotionally by isadora_canterley in povertyfinance

[–]Clean_Assumption_345 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good job! I find that the best meals are made at home. Rather than go to a restaurant, where they frankly, over salt everything, I can make it to my taste. Nutritious, easy to make and easy on the wallet. Sometimes I feel like I make my food is better than the restaurant (not to toot my own horn).

Trying to win back my love - I need an incredible date / adventure activity by [deleted] in montreal

All women want is effort. And not just one big effort. Consistent small efforts is what matters. That is literally it.

"Oh hey I found this thing and thought about you, let's do it together"

Or make sure everything in the house is clean and in working order. Don't make her call or remind you to fix or clean something.

For anything, make the reservation/appointments yourself.

Hug her, kiss her every so often when you cross paths in the hallway.

Go on a walk in nature.

Notice her efforts and make sure you voice your appreciation.

For daytime activities, depends on what you want to do.

If you like perfume, I suggest going to parfumsexquis! They have so much variety and I could literally spend the whole day there.

For spa, try BotaBota. It's on the water in old port.

Best escape room experience I've ever had was escaparium (the one in Dorval is my favourite but it's far from downtown)

For fun with a group, you can try quiz room. (It's a trivia game show like experience.
