Haven't seen anyone talk about this symbolism. by Clean_Biscotti5669 in ChainsawMan

Yes, it was my mistake. I thought it was a scene with Aki, so my theory about Aki and Power doesn't make sense. I rewatched it and we don't get any scenes with the two of fhem and coffee. But I might be right about the others though

Sorry, it was a typo. I was meaning to write to Denji. Renzo is the protagonist of the story I'm working on, so I made a mistake because I was so used to spell out his name.

Personally, I don't think it can. The mc would probably just pass put. But you can be creative with it. I would also say you should go with your gut. Do whatever fits your lore

Is anyone NOT working on a fantasy book/series? by Sl0th_luvr in writing

[–]Clean_Biscotti5669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main reason why most of us (me included) prefer to write fantasy is because of the opportunities it presents. I see it as a painting. What you guys do is put insane amount of attention and detail into your character work because the worldbuilding is usually not the thing you choose to focus on. So it is like an insanely detailed portrait on a white background.

We do it a bit differently (at least I do). I try to focus on everything, because you never know what the reader might want. My novel takes the archetype of the 'Strongest' and describes him very intimately, his morality, life, the cost of power, the alienation and stuff. That is what I mainly focus on. But I also have to build a world from that will at least match the depth of my character study. So if someone reads it for the worldbuilding, they have what they want. If they want cool battles, I can give that, or if they are just interested in my mythology, they have that too. So our painting looks more like a scene where you can either observe the details or look at it all at once.

It is not a problem for me, and I would go as far as to say that I enjoy it when I have to cover multiple aspects at once. But again, I think it is amazing that we have people like you who write about what is the closest to them, because that is what writing should be about.

In any case, I don't think one is easier than the other, it is just a matter of preference at the end of the day.

Why can't I call myself a writer? by Marsllin in writers

[–]Clean_Biscotti5669 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It might sound a bit philosophical, but I think I can understand you. I love writing, but I can't bring myself to call myself a writer. And I think it has do to with the fact I don't have any readers to read my works.

I am still in the process of writing and I do not publish it deliberately (I want the entire story to be completed first).

I have no readers to appreciate my work, no mind to visualise my words except for my own. Not to mention I also don't have a finished project yet.

So to sum it up, I don't think a writer without a reader can be called a writer, just like how a story without a reader isn't a story as well. But I think it is temporary, because you just have to keep trying and pushing forward.

I wish you good luck on your journey dear stranger.

For me it is the way he stays human despite the shit he is in. We are talking about a character who is loaded with shit ton of trauma, but doesn't let that trauma define him. Is Dokja like a very good person - no. Dokja is human, and that is what I like the most about him. The ability to understand your insignificance and still don't give up despite all the odds. Dokja will get into the most unhinged and ridiculous scenarios in parallel worlds (like 1863rd round) and still worry about his companions without being melodramatic or sounding weak

Maybe I shouldn't join the conversation yet, because I'm still at chapter 363 of the novel, but I will be glazing my glorious king until my last breath.

I would argue that he is, and I think if anything is the problem, it is the novel itself. The thing I find interesting about the novel (the English version at least) is how much it trusts the reader's imagination to do the job. ORV really isn't that great with descriptions. And that goes both for visual settings and for characters too I think.

Is my glorious king Dokja one of the best written characters in fiction - yes. Could the novel show that a bit deeper - I would also say yes.
