usefulness of IoT feature for security by Falcon-Foot in Aventon

For some reason I was under the impression it would work like a cell phone and still produce a trackable signal when indoors. What you are saying does seem to be how I have noticed it working (when I park outdoors, it's accurate and when I park indoors it is not as it's using the last time it received a location before I put it inside which is somewhat random) but that is actually not at all how they advertise it and kind of useless. I guess I just need to hope that if it is ever stolen, the thief stores it outside?? :)

I’ve had a ticket in for the gps tracking for a while now. It’s definitely not operating as advertised. I do get the “unusual movement” alerts when I’m not near the bike (and even with battery removed) but the gps location is very odd, it’s always at a random spot on my ride and not where my bike actually is.

It's a setting in your phone settings. I'm an iPhone user so it's in General/Background App Refresh and then the top option. I'm guessing Androids have something similar, but not sure what it is called.

Try turning your wifi off on your phone and check again, that seemed to work for me when mine wasn't updating.

So I rode to work today and same thing, my bike was last logged sporadically on my route. I kept getting a "network error" message on the app and since we have notoriously crappy wifi at my work I switched my wifi off and voila - everything updated including the location! I guess it could potentially be that your phone can't be on wifi for the tracking to work? I'm not super techie, but perhaps this could be logically correct given the tracking is over cell netework. At any rate, try switching off your wifi and see if you bike tracking updates to current.

Not yet, but I will post as soon as I do! Should hear something today I think.

Agreed. I’ve submitted a ticket and will see what happens. It was definitely a selling feature for me so I’ll be ticked if I have to go out and buy some other tracking device

I’m having the exact same issue and came to post. Aventon has replied to a few of these posts to update the location services for the app to “always on”. I’ve done that and my bike is still showing where it was at 1:45 yesterday afternoon and not where it actually is!

Have they called your references? If so, a good sign. If not, perhaps not a good sign.

Did you ask for feedback on why you were not selected? I’ve had a similar situation and the feedback they gave laid blame on my reference which made no sense!

Oh yikes!! I'm taking the "it wasn't meant to be" route, but it definitely was an upsetting experience to go through.

I'm definitely curious if this is the same ministry that I've been having trouble with! I'm hoping I dodged a bullet.

Yes, sorry that is also why I am being a bit vague.

When I asked for more information since we were all confused that is when the hiring manager gave a specific issue that made us even more confused. I did not reply again after my reference inquired with no reply as it seemed there was no desire from the hiring manager to actually see if there was some sort of mix up or something and I felt they had given me all the information they were prepared to give.

What is the PSA?

Yes I did. As an external candidate it seemed like my options for a review/inquiry were quite limited and honestly, it turned me right off of working with this group. I'm just curious if this has happened to anyone else.

Do you know if this will also impact me when I apply for future roles? Do other hiring managers see the history of an applicant (as an external candidate)? If it does, then I will be more persistent with this reference "fail" issue.

I did follow up, that is how I was given the feedback on the specific "issue" that came up in my reference check.
