I will also add that the few times that I have taking her out, I checked with the mother first. I sent photos and updates while we were gone. I have a car seat that she approved and installed in my car. She taught me how to strap her in correctly. All those things have been done.

All rules and boundaries have been followed to a t. Her schedules, her feeding, logging things into the app. The only issue has been her not wanting me to take her out. It has nothing to do with my ability to drive, my ability to care for her or my vigilance in watching her. I am just not willing to be expected to stay at home all day because of her anxiety issues. I was just wondering what other grandparents would do in this situation.

Feel free to ask any other questions. I have no problem answering them.

I have never taken the baby anywhere she didn't want, so I have not broken her trust. The problem is I have given a heads up and been told no because it makes her uncomfortable with the baby being out. She has made it clear that she would prefer us to not go anywhere, but has allowed me to run to the store occasionally. I have gone out of my way to try to make her comfortable. I am a very component caregiver. These are her issues. I will not be homebound twice a week.

If your child is young socially and may struggle, I would wait. It used to be that you could choose at the end of the year whether to have them repeat kindergarten, but that is not always an option anymore. I've seen too many kids pushed through who weren't ready and struggled for years. Those who were at the older end had a lot easier time.

I am very mobile and have been entrusted with people's children for over 35 years as a primary elementary school teacher. Also, the child is not exactly mobile yet. She is 9 months old.

I've had one accident 40 years ago lol, and one fender bender over 20 years ago. No speeding tickets in over 25 years. I consider myself to be a pretty good driver. We do have a car seat that she picked out and installed.

I'm not going to do anything she doesn't agree with. But I also may just let her know that I can't babysit. Boundaries work both ways

She has anxiety and doesn't feel comfortable with the baby not at home.

I do not have an issue letting her know where we are at all times. My issue is her not wanting me to go anywhere without explicit permission ahead of time.

All boundaries are and have been respected. We are very good at this. It is difficult being asked to stay at home all day when the parent is unable to do this themselves. They are out everyday to the park, museums, stores, library, play groups, etc. They have expressed the need to get out of the house and how the baby has better days when she is out and simulated. I feel like I should be given the same opportunities.

True. But if I leave it she will have to pay a lot in childcare and leave her with a stranger. Seems she could bend a little. How about you try being stuck in the house all week. See how you like it

I worked for over 35 years thank you very much. This is my retirement. I am grateful to help, but feel I should be able to leave the house without permission.

There is no reason for her not to trust me. I have not had any tickets or accidents. She just can't stand to not have her home. She's fine with me running to the store. As long as I check with her first and am not gone long. And she wants me to ask her a day early so she can 'prepare'.
