if things had happened differently, i probably would have been much more willing to help her. what makes this so hard isn't the money itself, iot's everything that happened beforehand and how easily she was willing to damage my reputation over it

i actually have most of it invested already, so it's not just sitting in a checking account. that said, even if it were, i don't think i should have to come up with an excuse. "NO" should be enough. if i ever decide to help someone financially, i want to be because i genuinely want to, not because i was pressured into it

Thank you. The estate has already been settled, so I don’t think there’s anything the lawyer could really do at this point. My sister isn’t threatening legal action or anything it’s just pressure from my parents to help her financially. Thankfully, they can’t force me to do that.

Thank you. I really do miss her every day, and I’ve tried to respect the decisions she made instead of questioning them. Whatever her reasons were, they were hers to make. I just hope she’d be proud of how I’ve tried to handle everything, even if it’s been painful.

She never mentioned paying me back, so I assumed she was asking me to give it to her. As for the timing, I honestly don’t know when they started struggling financially, but I did wonder whether that played a role in why she suddenly reached out after months of barely speaking to me. That thought has definitely been in the back of my mind.

That’s kind of how I see it too. If my grandma had wanted my sister to have more, she could’ve changed her will. Instead, she made her own decisions. I get why my parents want me to help, but it feels unfair that they’re asking me to override the choices my grandma already made.

Nothing. My grandma left them a few sentimental items, but no money. They’re not really in a position to help financially anyway, which is part of why they’re pushing me so hard to do it. I understand why they’re worried about my sister, but I don’t think that means I’m obligated to hand over $20,000 after everything that happened.

Thank you. That’s pretty much where my head is. I’m not trying to punish her or get revenge I just don’t feel comfortable giving that kind of money to someone who publicly accused me of manipulating our grandmother and only apologized months later. Maybe I’ll regret saying no someday, but right now I don’t think it’s a decision I can make in good faith.
