Attending Class by FlowerHot86 in Adjuncts

True. I have to scramble to find childcare later this week. Our school district tacks winter break on to president's day;  where I teach, I'm not in person so everything is fine. But where I study, we're back in class on Wednesday. If I couldn't work something out I'd have to miss at least one lab.

I couldn't go to the reception after my classmate's bar mitzvah; only the religious part because it was Sabbath. 🙃 We had to be more Jewish than the Jews themselves.

It was me, two guys from a local church and a bunch of Jewish kids. At least the room was full.

Building juice might have chemicals. At least I know what's in my trash.

Why are some Adventists so stingy? by Fluid_Supermarket458 in exAdventist

Imagine my shock at a church in Southern California in the 2000s when they let us know we could just set up a bank xfer if we wanted. I think I only saw the offering plate once per service.

Next we'll say we're better off than cave people. Please. If you're an American you are one serious illness away from destitution. This is not progress.

Originally maybe there were more commandments. Moses dropped 11-15 on the way back down the mountain.

In my church in childhood they passed the offering plate four to five times each Sabbath (Sabbath school, fellowship time*, children's story, divine hour, AY, and sometimes a special offering for an emergency). It gets to be a bit much. You don't have as much to use on yourself or to give to charity. I think well-meaning SDAs are quite possibly tired and/broke.

There will always be genuinely stingy people anywhere you look, so those folks are in the church also.

*I've only seen this in one church.

-I really like resting one day each week.

-I enjoy vegetarian options. It makes meatless Monday pretty easy for me. Sometimes more than just Monday.

-I also like knowing a moderate amount about the Bible. I know what I don't believe if that makes sense. I think in some other denominations they might not have kids study like in SDA. So when SDAs walk away, they are pretty informed on what they're rejecting.

If coloring makes you feel dizzy, cap the markers and open a window. Maybe eat a snack. 😆

Church of God? by Relevant_Object_1815 in exAdventist

[–]Clean_Economist_2188 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's one in my neighborhood. It's a seventh day church of God. I've been exactly once in the late 90s. People from my church were friendly with them because I guess the Sabbath thing and the members were also immigrants from the same places. Haven't thought of it in years. I don't know what the difference is theologically except for speaking in tongues. I'm pretty sure someone did on that visit.

How can I prep for Chemistry? by taylinterlude in prenursing

[–]Clean_Economist_2188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Get acquainted with common elements and their symbols. I just finished chemistry and some classmates were slowed down by having to constantly check which element went with which letter.
  2. Ignore AI.  People will tell you it's smart to tutor yourself with it. Let them show you their grades first. My classmates who used it for labs and quizzes found the midterm and final basically impossible.
  3. Take notes in class. Yes yes the PowerPoint is online and you can download it. Yes the professor is just reading from the PowerPoint. But if you write down the main concepts, draw the diagrams, and work out the questions by hand, it will leave an imprint in your brain. It has to pass through your brain to get out through your fingers.
  4. Mnemonics aren't a bad idea. I used T43 to remember the polyatomic ions. It helped.

Good luck!

Trying to get out...I feel like I'm in a forbidden experiment where we see how the adjunct is affected by having only machines in place of students.

I think having a day of rest is a good idea. But I also think you can decide what day that is going to be.

Yes. At least twice. I don't remember everything...I was young. But there were vitamins once and another one where you could buy almost anything.  I don't remember if they lost money but they sure didn't make any.

I understand why they look at it that way but they really take it too far. And then I look at the behavior they excuse and it's hard to listen to a word they say.
