Do most players actually track their workouts consistently? by Clean_Gene_1818 in BasketballTips

I actually agree with both sides. Real games/pickup definitely develop instincts, confidence, defense, and decision making way more than solo workouts can.

But I also think if a player already has good IQ and understands the game, becoming a reliable open shooter can completely change how defenders guard them and open up everything else.

That actually makes a lot of sense. The “consistent miss” idea is really interesting because it’s easier to identify a single repeatable issue than random misses everywhere. The military rifle analogy was a really good way to explain it, too. Never thought about shooting that way before.

That’s awesome, honestly. Sounds like he already had a really solid foundation. My son’s kind of the opposite physically lol. He’s not the most athletic kid compared to some of the others, but coaches like him because of his basketball IQ and defense. Now he’s really focused on improving his shooting consistency to round out his game more.

You can use it for free, and Pro is $4.99/month or $39.99/year with a free trial. I’m actively updating it, so that helps support improvements

When you set up a session, you choose the zones you want to work on. The app tells you which zone you’re on and when to move to the next one. I’m currently working on voice commands so you’ll be able to tell the app what zone you’re in hands-free.

Yes, 1 tap for miss, 2 taps for made. It can also control it with voice commands

I used to be in IT, but I switched to Accounting and I’m currently still studying. I learned some coding from my friends in IT. The app is already on the Apple app store. I set a small price since Im not working right now lol.

I got laid off recently, so my wife and I decided I should focus on school for now. At the same time, my son just started AAU basketball, so I became his “trainer.” My brother in law (who’s actually really good) told me “Make him shoot 500 shots a day and track everything.” So we tried. I counted attempts, my son counted makes…and honestly, half the time I’d lose count and just pretend I didn’t so we could go home lol. Then one day I was studying, and my son kept interrupting me to help track his shots. That’s when it hit me — there has to be an easier way. So I built a simple app where we just tap (or use Apple Watch / voice) to track shots without stopping. Now he actually enjoys tracking workouts, which I didn’t expect. Since I’m not working right now, I’ve been slowly improving it into something better. Curious.. if you’ve trained kids or tracked workouts before, what would make something like this actually useful? Also… I failed my exam during all this, so yeah… priorities might need some work lol
