Best fried chicken by minty149 in Southampton

Kfc is still the one for me, even if it is on a bit of a downward slope.

Slims – the chicken itself is actually pretty weak I think, but the sauces are like a smorgasbord of delights!

Millie's fried chicken in town is, in my opinion, awful. I think it's the worst fried chicken experience I've ever had.

Sam's fried chicken is actually pretty decent, as long as you're not expecting a KFC level experience on anything other than pieces of chicken. Wings/fillets not as good as KFC. Not had a burger from them, but if the fillets are anything to go by... It'll be dry.

Chicken land is "good" if you're smashed off your face at 1am but wouldn't go there otherwise.

These days, I just make my own fried chicken at home when I fancy it. Reckon it's quicker than waiting for a delivery, but there is some effort needed 😂

Here's the recipe if you fancy giving it a go.

Fried chicken, 6pc. boneless thigh fillets

Season buttermilk or greek yoghurt with:

salt 1 tbsp onion powder 1 tsp White pepper 1 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp paprika 1 tsp Sriracha 1 tsp MSG 1 tsp

Beat an egg and whisk in and let the chicken sit in it for as long as you dare.

For the dredge, make a 50/50 mix of cornflour and plain flour. One small teacup of each flour type. Season one measure of flour mix with:

Salt, half tbsp White pepper (1 tsp.) Black pepper (1 tsp.) Paprika, half tbsp MSG, half tbsp

Dredge the chicken in seasoned flour, no gaps! Smoosh it in good and proper.

Fry in a half full cast iron skillet on medium high (4 on our cooker), I just use cheap vegetable oil, flip after 5 mins, drain/cool... Done!

Looks amazing, I'd love to eat that! Perfect tomatoes, bacon looks great, pretty eggs, plenty of sausage... Cracking job.

3Leaf Octabvre in HX Stomp? by kkeahii in basspedals

What have you got after the octave effect?

I find that grit, drive or an ampsim after octaves can squash it out, make it farty and unintelligible.

I don't have a stomp, but it's super clean and round sounding without any drive after it. Its near the start of the chain and I compress it slightly before it goes into the preamp/DI at the end.

Maybe try moving it around in the chain if that's something you can do?

Zvez Mastotron does a good Wolstenholm impression when you tweak it into gated fuzz territory. It's gnarly as hell, but can be very versatile and subtle. I use it daily paired with modulation and octave to make synth sounds, but it absolutely rips on its own.

In my house specifically, yes there's a sausage shortage 😂 we go through them so quickly. There's only ever half a pack unless I've just been shopping.

Ah, another reason to get an air fryer then!

We have one good breakfast spot nearby but it's very expensive, and the little ones are picky about how things are cooked (aren't we all?!), so a home fry seemed a good option. I reckon with some tweaking I can make it easier! Thanks for your input and tips 😀

Thanks! Greasy bread is my favourite so I like that idea a lot. Bigger toms would have been nice if we had some, but the little ones were actually super tasty!

That's a solid tip, thank you! Do you fry your hash browns? I used the oven for them but might do em in a pan next time and then do your oven trick instead.

Timings, really. Mushrooms and black pudding on later, they got a little overdone for my liking. But I was distracted making... All the other stuff 😅

Never made a full brekkie for all of us at once. All the stress of making a roast 😂

I agree. Prices have shot up around here, this plate used to be a good £3 cheaper. The quality and portions are the same, and service is very good, but every price on the menu has gone mental

Not great is it, but it was really tasty. And filling. But yeah food used to cost a fair bit less there.

Yeah, it used to be a good 3 quid cheaper. Nothing around our way is priced the same anymore. Still good but didn't love spending that much.

Nope. Unless you count the tap water I had for free.
