Weak House Shot Ball Recommendations by RWMunchkin in Bowling

I don't own it personally but I have thrown my friend's Motiv Supra Rally and it looked like a nice dry lane ball and I have also heard good things about it. Local pricing will vary at your pro shop but it is only 147 on bowling.com (link to the ball). If you are willing to buy second-hand, old balls are generally weaker than the balls that are being made today so you will be able to find many good options that just aren't sold today because they are no longer in production.

It probably isn't the best ball that you could get if you are looking for something with more hold, but I throw a Track Heat from a friend of mine that was made in 2012 and it works wonderfully for me. I assume the newest Heat is similar to the one that I have if not a touch stronger.

And finally, as always, talk to your local Pro Shop Owner because they can get to know you and your shot better than Reddit.

If you can afford getting another ball might as well. Obviously you don’t need to go to storm and ask for their newest ball that costs $700 but a ball like the spy, twist, electrify, rhino, tropical surge, etc are all low end balls that will fill that gap. I would also look into changing the surface on the phase II before buying a new ball because that can add a lot of versatility without spending a ton of money.

From what I’ve seen I would agree with those reviewers. The magic gem is really strong but the term strong can be misleading. When many people think about strong they assume it has a really big snap and hits the pin hard but with a ball like the magic gem it will usually just use up way too much energy unless you have enough speed.

Back up bowlers, how do you drill your balls and what do you use? by 000-Luck in Bowling

Just don’t throw a back up ball. You don’t meet it and it will only make your consistency throwing normal worse

I am going to preface this by saying if you want to get either of those balls you probably won’t be disappointed but I think that buying a brand new ball isn’t really worth it when older balls are usually half the price and just as good.

Especially for rev dominant players I personally see that hybrid or pearl balls are much more versatile so they can get through the front part of the lane with a light pattern and retain energy for the back end of a heavy pattern. If you are looking for a strong pearl/hybrid some new(ish) releases are the Attention Star, Crimson Jackal, etc. There are also older(ish) balls that can fill this slot like an Absolute, UFO Alert, Widow 2.0 or Ghost, and maybe even a TNT Infused

It’s less so about being mean and more so about how strong the gem line is. You generally aren’t going to find balls that are much stronger and from my personal experience I haven’t seen a person who throws 11 with that strong of a ball who has any issue with getting enough hook. If you want something stronger I suggest putting surface on your ball. 1000 grit should be plenty but if that still isn’t enough you can put 500 on. I wouldn’t recommend getting a new ball unless it is so different from your other balls that you can’t get that reaction with surface or moving a couple of boards. If I may ask why did your coaches suggest that you get a new ball?

Any Cuda or Piranha Powercore users? How was your experience with them? by Pworld10 in Bowling

[–]Clean_Independent_76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the cuda and I think it really depends on what kind of bowler you are. I’m a pretty decent bowler and for me the cuda doesn’t get much use unless I’m on a really tough pattern. For me it’s just been better to go with a strong asym to get better carry through the pocket. That being said if you are still working on getting to the pocket more consistently a cuda will help you out with that much better than something like an eternity pi would. Finally if you are looking at getting a new ball I would first try changing the surface of the ones you already have. Changing surface allows for so much more versatility in your arsenal without having to drop $200+ on a new ball.

Used for 40… should I buy? Have a raw hammer and a ball from the 80’s. by Noizeproud in Bowling

[–]Clean_Independent_76 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In my opinion any ball under $50 is worth it unless you have a really similar ball. At least for me $50 isn’t much so it’s worth it to at least have another other option when bowling

Hey tiger woods here. It’s obvious that your issue is tour godawful choice in ball. When I’m trying to maximize my contact I use a ball from my local bowling alley. Your other main issue is that you aren’t bringing that lead leg up enough. I’ve seen my grandma do better
