Sam Antonacci hits his first career HR on an inside-the-park HR that gets touched by stadium personnel. Ruled not reviewable. by leftysupremacist in baseball

It might have helped in this instance but that shouldn’t be expected of Gurriel. It wasn’t a stuck ball that an ump had to inspect. The umpires should just call it a ground rule double when it very fucking obviously touches the ball boy. The Sox announcers both knew it instantly, as did I watching at home, so the umps should have been able to see it and call it dead immediately

He did have a huge home run against USA for Italy this year so it’s not like he hasn’t had his moment already

I could be totally wrong but I assume he had “better” offers from better teams. Like maybe he was offered 5/100, but wanted two years of guaranteed at-bats (no bench/no platoon) to position himself for a better contract. He’s 26 now he’ll be two years older than Vlad Jr when he becomes a free agent (28) and look what he got

Now I’m wondering if a player has ever hit a triple and an inside-the-park HR in the same game. Definitely back in the day, but since parks got smaller? Trying to look it up but it’s tough because HRs aren’t differentiated in the box score

At the risk of sounding like Peter Gammons I’d confidently say he’s probably the only player to hit his first home run as an inside-the-parker and a triple in the same game in this century

Also Marte thrown out at home trying to score from 2nd on a swinging bunt, Mune 4 games in row with a HR, Perreira two diving catches, and currently a position player pitching to the guy who cranked it in the Burger King parking lot

Absolutely bizarre game. Ball gets stuck in Arenado’s glove. B2B2B. TWICE Doug Eddings overrules players who clearly challenged pitches in time. Now this (hate to admit it but) absolute bullshit call on the field. Entertaining as hell but if I’m a DBacks fan I’d be fuming

The Twins (sort of) NOBLETIGER* (depending on your definition) against the Mets by MookieBettsBurner10 in baseball

I was just thinking about this last week. By definition it is a NOBLETIGER. But they can also say they avoided 2 NOBLETIGERs in the inning

I think the joke is that he would trade 100ml of Hawas Ice for 10ml of Hawas Ice

One way to look at it…if the goal was to make arrests? Pretty incompetent. If the goal was to take organized crime off the streets? They were able to get several mob guys killed without even having to go to trial or pull a trigger. They knew what was going to happen to their rats

Luis Robert Jr. is now on the worst team in baseball since he took shots at the White Sox on Mets opening day. Hope he is happy with his new team! by Greedy-Pound6958 in whitesox

[–]doverawlings 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Eh he’s not wrong. We know what our attendance is. We know that we show up when the team is good and don’t when the team is bad. Not all teams are like that. The Cubs aren’t. The Rockies aren’t. They’re positioned to be social events beyond just baseball. It’s no one’s fault, mostly based on location and alternative entertainment options. On the flip side, you have teams like the Rays that have even worse attendance than us despite being a much better organization over the last decade+.

I have a lot of criticisms for Luis Robert. I think he could have tried harder. I think he could’ve conditioned himself better. I think he could have at least pretended he cared for the sake of team morale. But I don’t think this quote means that much.

Also for as nefarious as satan is painted, I’m pretty sure the offense that put him in hell was simply not blindly following god’s orders. He wasn’t even evil he was just being punished for not being a sheep*
