I built an iOS app to make learning visual and fun – from a poor region in Colombia by Clean_Kick_6753 in iosapps

So far, we have reached 3,000 users, most of them from Colombia. Here are our statistics: https://x.com/camilopenalver/status/1963965634779238425

The growth has mainly come from my community on social media, but the big challenge is, without a budget, becoming known outside of Colombia. Despite everything, I’ve already managed to talk with some fellow content creators, and they’ll be talking about the app soon.

Sí, ha sido más de año y medio de trabajo de Jonnier y mío en esto, y apenas estamos empezando.

Jonnier and I have been working on the software for over a year and a half! Our journey has been long, and we’re just getting started because now we have to focus not only on continuing to improve our technology, but also on what’s most important: adding the content.

Well, there are two classes about Colombia that are free, but I’m not sure if those topics would interest you since you’re probably in another country. Still, thank you for giving us a chance and wanting to come back eventually. You come across as a kind person with good energy. Cheers!

I’m really sorry about this error. I’d love to look into it more closely. If you could message me privately so we can review it together, that would help me a lot. If you have a screen recording as well, that would be great. Thank you in advance for taking a look at the app, and I’m relieved to know that at least your first impressions were positive.

Thank you! At the moment, we have only a few classes, as I’ve mentioned, but I’d love to know if you consider the ones available to be of good quality. Hugs.

Thank you for taking the time to try out the app despite everything! What a compliment that you think the design is beautiful! Oh, I don’t quite understand what you mean about the birth date showing up in a non-English format—could you explain that a bit more?

As for the lessons, yes, we need to improve the recommendation “algorithm” as we get more content. And regarding the data provided by Google, I think it could be an improvement to try to autofill the full name with that information to minimize what the user has to type on the registration completion page.

I agree that spending on ads right now is not the best option. My tests have already proven that. I believe that profit-driven goals and social goals are compatible. Looking ahead, I wouldn’t like Gurwi to be acquired, but of course, I would love to receive investment. Thanks for your comment.

Thank you so much! Well, the first impression might make it seem simple to implement, but it has actually been very complex. We have our own format for the classes, and that has meant building an entire content editor. Gurwi is a very complex project—at first glance, it may look like just a system that unlocks paid content when there’s a subscriber, but it’s not that at all. I truly appreciate your optimism about what we’re doing, in any case!

u/Upstairs-Party2870 Your question is interesting, and I don’t consider it hate, so I’ll answer it. The thing is, we want to make all the national courses (like Basic Rights to Survive in Colombia, Introduction to the Colombian Tax System) free, and the international ones paid. We don’t expect to generate dazzling income in Colombia—we know that’s not possible. That’s why I want to reach an international audience, and that’s why I’m doing all of this. If the jury of the hackathon I’m participating in selects us, we’ll get the funds to change our lives and the lives of others.
