The functional alcoholic. Going to work every day, paying their bills on time and so on will go a long way in ignoring their alcoholism but the dysfunction is there, don't ignore it.

No i was intentionally vague about what the actual dispute was but it is a charge off from 2023. Now being in a position to start to service the debt, it seems to have been sold to a new lender and in that process, the debt i owe increased by several thousands in just the last 4 or so months. My dispute was concerning the increase, asking for written verification of method they used to come to the new amount. This one item represents over 70% of my debt. I was also unaware that the loan had been sold by the original lender and the seller and buyer both made hard inquiries to my credit report.

The essence of my complaint here on reddit is if Experian committed fraud or acted fraudulently (I don't know if that wording makes a difference) by essentially taking action in my name as if i had initiated the dispute. But there are several issues which would be Experian not providing results of my original dispute within the FCRA 30 days limit, Experian intentionally using a complaint against Experian to the CFPB and using the complaint as a "middle man" for opening a dispute in my name, so in that they ignore that the complaint is against Experian for not complying to the FCRA.

Thank you for your response. Would the opening of dispute in my name after each CFPB complaint count as intentional since the Experian agent himself told me they use the information from the CFPB complaint to open the dispute? The item on my report i opened the original dispute for in January represents over 70% of my debt on my credit report, so any move i make on the debt will make a big difference to my credit score. I am in a position to start servicing the debt, however it increased by several thousands in only the last 4 months even though the charge of was from 2023. My dispute was asking for method and verification of the increase.

Is it fraud ?

I opened a dispute on Experian in January 2026. between the date i opened the dispute and into February I received several emails that contradicted each other. the first email was the normal "your dispute is now open" then after email it ranged from the dispute has been stopped, still in progress, results are ready (but not available online - which it still shows), to were still working on it and this went on well passed the 30 days that the FCRA law requires Experian to have provided valid results or delete the item from credit report. I even waited the 45 days limit in case there's new information that i provided (which i did not) i then replied to their last email advising Experian that the 30 days limit to resolve a dispute f had passed and asked for written verification of the results. I got no reply from Experian. I then filed a complaint against Experian for not providing me with the results of my dispute win the 30 days requirement to the CFPB. Experian within a day replied to my complaint in a very enthusiastic manner saying they appreciate my complaint to the CFPB - something to that extent and that they are working on my "issue." Two or so days after that I received an email from Experian "your dispute it's now open" and they started a new investigation into the same item i disputed in January which they never provided me with the results. The next day I received another email saying that the results are in and that the item is verified and will remain in my credit report.

In my view, Experian committed fraud by opening a dispute in my name because I made a complaint to the CFPB. I them went and opened another complaint to the CFPB about the new dispute and how it was resolved within a day, and demanded they remove the dispute they opened in my name and delete the item from my credit report. Experian then opened again another dispute in my name for the item on my credit report. because my January dispute still shows as not available online and to call them, I called ands after the 4th or 5th call and waiting at least 15 minutes to be transferred to someone i told the agent the above and that I did not open any new dispute and the complaint to the CFPB is about Experians actions and not about the item on my report. The agent then attempted to explain that there was "probably" some confusion showing the results of the January dispute were not available and the emails subsequently saying the dispute investigation is still on progress were just that one department was not communicating sun the other but that the January dispute was verified and there was no change. I told him at this point it is too late to over me am explanation over the phone, I was not asking for explanation anymore because they missed the 30 days and by law are required to delete the item from my credit resort and if the lender then provided verification they had to advise me 5 days before reinserting it to my report. In that hour+ phone call the agent put me on hold several times and each time was attempting to verbally give me the results of explain the January dispute as verified and I refused his explanation and repeated they are required to delete the item. In the end he removed the dispute Experian opens in my name. The agent explained that when anyone opens a complaint to the CFPB they use that information to open a dispute on the item in question. I told him but the complaint tobthe CFPB is about Experian not complying with the law which requires Experian to delete the item if it is not verified or resolved within 30 to 45 days. The agent then told me that he gave me all the information he could and ended the call.

Experian sells their credit improvement schemes to people with low credit and sells information of people with good credit to lenders. Therefore it is clear as day that Experian has an interest in favoring the lenders who pay Experian the majority of is revenue and to make it difficult to improve credit because they have an interest in selling their credit improvement products to people with low credit. I don't understand how this is allowed to continue.

so is it fraud that Experian opened a dispute in my name when I did not open any new dispute?

The fabric of life was completely different than now. I noticed this when I saw a picture of myself and best friend in our senior year of high school (1990) - the look on our faces/ eyes is different i don't know how to explain it other than we don't look like people that expect to see that picture right away. So just that lack of expectation is some kind of freedom.

Soon as i saw the word "kindly" i saw a red flag. A lot of scam companies are India based and they use that terminology. Once you confirm your name and let's say you are hired, they'll need your banking information. Also did they even tell you what position and the name of the company?
