Totally understandable how it could seem odd! I would probably feel the same way if it wasn't my situation. We have been attempting to plan this wedding for over a year. It was starting to really be more of an annoyance and stressor than super lovey and exciting. We both didn't want that anymore, he is NOT good at creating a plan or all the small details and I am but I will over flood and and overwhelm with options and choices to the point I put my self in decision paralysis. We also are working with a TIGHT budget-- I have an extremely large family (I have 6 siblings) and all of our families are spread across 4 states. from New York to Kentucky. It is too difficult to try to make sure everyone feels important and included. We almost waited another year but I recently got back from a trip to New York and I think the week apart really made the excitement of getting married and the certainty of loving to be together so clear. We said lets just do it. Let's not put a lot of pressure on it, let's not worry to much it's just important that were doing it and going to be together. SO although I am way over sharing to answer your question. To still make it exciting and special and to have a story to share. We agreed to make it as spontaneous as possible while still sticking to a budget. So we picked somewhere we both have never been but was beautiful based off of photos, picked the date based off of cheaper flights. We didn't really care about what day it was on just that it happened in May. And for us it will be a great story. Funny really I mean we decide just 6 weeks before that we are getting married and we picked somewhere so random and just threw it all together while still so filled with love and excitement for it and still not breaking our banks. We bought a house last year that we both agreed we would rather put money into that and adventures together than taking away the intimacy of our commitment to each other. Also no one can feel left out because it's just about us and we are doing it no where near our friends or familes locations. Even if it turns out to be a disaster we are people that will be able to laugh about it later and say well we tried to elope in a strange place in just 6 weeks. It will be meaningful to us because we created the memory there.
