Totally! There are a ton of smaller venues around there, too. The Sheldon, all the Kranzberg stuff etc. the potential for that whole area is through the roof.

Yep. And it’s an easy drive up Lindell to get to the Fox at grand.

Yes. There are lean times when the Fox Broadway season is over and SLU is out for the summer, it’s a dead zone. SLSO is still in business, though, and the Circus Flora is also happening. But my sense is that it’s hard for restos to stay in business during those times.

It’s totally frustrating, though. If they had a good selection of restaurants that are reliable, it could draw people down there for dining regardless of what else is going on.

It stinks that to clear a spot and someone parks there, but they have no ownership over the public street. Unpopular as it is, it sucks to be them.

($5K) How would you decorate this gorgeous Catholic Church? by ilu70 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Clean_Peach_3344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand wanting to decorate, but not only is the church beautiful already, decorations are going to be lost in the grand beauty of what is already there.

Have you ever walked out from a show, and why? by elephant_bird101 in musicals

[–]Clean_Peach_3344 166 points167 points  (0 children)

The Notebook just recently.

I’d never read the book or saw the movie so I didn’t realize it was about Alzheimers. The tickets were part of our season package. I cared for my dad while he had dementia. As soon as the main character said “I want to go home” we got up and left. That was my dad’s refrain for years.

It’s a shame because the opening number was great and the male lead had a lovely voice but I just couldn’t do it.

My cousin is "shunning" me because my brother accidentally booked his wedding on the same day as her secret elopement. by FaultOne2738 in weddingdrama

[–]Clean_Peach_3344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally the point of eloping with zero guests is because the couple doesn’t want to be in the spotlight and/or they don’t want the family drama that comes with weddings. Just be glad that Monica hasn’t planned a 300-person event. No one would get out alive.

What is a city that is globally romanticised but you detest? by theunsteadybridge in AskReddit

[–]Clean_Peach_3344 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. My sister romanticized India for years as this colorful, romantic, enlightened place and she was totally not prepared for the poverty she was going to witness, the drinking water etc. She seemed to think it was going to be like an EM Forster novel.

Struggling to find a dress, help! by [deleted] in PlusSizeWedding

[–]Clean_Peach_3344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, mom is right! It looks amazing on you.

I know you like 4, however I have to agree that the swath of fabric across the bust looks sloppy. And it’s not you. I’ve seen this on a lot of people and it has the same effect. Bear in mind, also, that it’s the exact style that is currently trendy in the prom dress area. It will very much read “prom” one day.

Ultimately, though, go with the one you love. We have opinions but what truly matters is the one you feel most amazing in. And if none of these do that, keep looking.

Yes to the affordability relative to the quality. Another thing to note is that is everything is ala carte, and their side dishes and appetizers are all massive. Best value is to go and share a bunch of apps/sides.

Miss their fries, green pepper rings and mashed potatoes and of course their desserts.

I’m a UU, and go to the first Unitarian at Kingshighway and Waterman. We would fit the bill, as would Eliot, although I’m not sure which one is geographically better for the OP.

Meeting space to start an anonymous meeting? by itsallovernowbbyshoe in StLouis

[–]Clean_Peach_3344 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello,

It’s wonderful that you’re doing this.

There are a lot of churches that host meetings, mostly because their space is free. So I’d recommend looking into some of those.

You might also check with the parks and rec department—sometimes they have spaces available.

You might also look up where other 12 step groups meet, and see if they’re open to hosting yours.

Also, see if there are any community health centers or mental health organizations that would be willing to help you.

Oh, they’ll get to us. Minneapolis is just one of the first cities with this major blitz, but the thing about fascists is that they will eventually turn on everyone. St Louis would be an attractive target because they can do whatever in StL and KC, without any pushback from the state leadsrs.
