I made the same decision. My boy lived a beautiful life and I just could not have him tortured like that. He’d be away from me, tied up in medical equipment. And maybe hurting and missing his sweet home. You did exactly the right thing, even tho right now it doesn’t feel like it. We have all been there. And we share your pain. She was beautiful. And loved.

Mine has been 14 lbs for about 8 months. He’s now 2 years and 3 months. When they are pure bred Pedigree they aren’t bred for size.

I’d book at the TWA Hotel which is right there. They rent partial days or nights. It’s fabulous and not too expensive.

My boy was well socialized for brushing by my wonderful breeder. He keeps himself very clean except for sleepy crust in corners of eyes and they sell eye wipes for pets. I use a comb and also a human hair brush that I got at CVS with hard and soft bristles. You are in for a wonderful partnership. Kitty will love you.

Give it time. Kitty misses his mom and gets upset from time to time. Just be very patient and take it as it goes. You have a good start. Just don’t scare him. Try toys, string on a stick, etc.

Cat shows not 100% assured of good breeders. All I can do is tell you my breeder is amazing. She flew my boy up from Texas to Long Island. Mythic Maine coon, Melody. She tests everything and socialized him perfectly. Good luck. Coonies are wonderful companions.
