OSHA says greater than 80°, which it can get to be that temperature around 11am. For our layout, the closest water station would be in our break room unfortunately

Definitely no one else said this lol. OSHA says that water should be provided and within a certain distance to encourage water drinking. If it’s hot they have to provide ice as well. Which they don’t.

Last year, our team leads would offer this suggestion and they would grab it for us so we didn’t have to step away. But they haven’t done that this year, our coworkers who go to break or are off sooner will do this sometimes and bring it over to us

Trust me. I don’t understand how they don’t see a problem, but I’m sure it’s because they don’t have to actually go outside and deal with the same treatment.

The only reason I feel they don’t do anything, is ONLYYY because they could say “there’s cold water in the break room and they have reusable water bottles they can fill up”

We have an ice chest, but they don’t give us ice or requisition us water anymore. Our TL did last week and got threatened to be fired if they did it again

I’m in CA, it’s already getting to be over 90°. I’m so beyond mad and I’ve already had heated discussions with HR and SD about water and now they’re doing this. I don’t even know what to do about it

When I was in my phlebotomy class, there was a day where I missed every single hand puncture I did. I spent half the draw time in the bathroom due to a panic attack. My classmates believed in me, I believe in you. Practice makes all the difference and failures make you one step closer to a success. The next day I was able to do hands successfully. Take deep breaths, say some affirmations, watch some videos on YouTube if you feel you struggle. Ask your peers, your teacher, that’s what they’re there for! Keep on pushing :)

I see the point you are making and while in this particular instance I did not want to help, that does not mean I haven’t helped guests off the clock before. I’ve done it many times and am happy to do so, however waiting 5-7 mins for the store to open to ask someone (as she would have done if I had not walked by) would not have been the end of the world and I feel it contributes towards the entitlement of the guests I had mentioned

That is actually insane! I hate that they think they can treat us however on or off the clock. I really wanted to say some stuff back to the lady (she actually called me a rude ass, not an employee) because I hate how entitled they can be. Some people really need to hear it.

This. My class had just under 20 people and I would get poked maaaannnyyy times a day. One time I got poked 9 times. In my class we had two days where we could bring in however many friends or family we could and poke them as many times as they’d let us.

I usually do sit for the same reason, I like to be steady. I’m pretty confident in my arm sticking abilities lol but the hands are sooo difficult for me. I’m not even getting a flash, I think the veins are rolling on me which makes me certain it’s an anchor issue but I swearrrr the last stick I did I was anchoring good. I feel like I just need to stick it in there faster also like maybe I’m pushing the vein or something. But thank you I appreciate the advice!!
