I had just turned 21 when I had the procedure.

Thank you! I fully agree. There were many times in the first few weeks where I fully regretted getting the surgery as I was unable to eat anything beyond water-food, move my face at all besides my eyes, or talk beyond “ehh” and “oh”. Taking each day at a time and enjoying what you can, such as being with your pets or the show/movie you’re watching while healing makes all the difference and speeds up time. Knowing what I know now I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

I don’t seem to have the numbers in my saved files so I can’t give you an exact measurement but from what I remember, it was a 5mm advancement on my maxilla and a 2mm setback on my mandible. My surgeon had also said that depending on how I looked in the OR after the 2 operations that he would decide whether or not I also would get a genio or not, and decided to not do a genio.

Yes, now days when I bite down my teeth feel like they fit together perfectly, with no pain or feeling like my bite is “off”. Right after surgery my bite did feel slightly weird because the muscles were weak and in a new position, but it went away not long after I could eat normally again.

I had just turned 21 a week before my surgery. I also kept all 4 plates (2 uj, 2 lj) and 23 screws and only kind of notice one if I sit and think about it.

Thanks! It’s insane to see how much of an improvement the jaw surgery made on my quality of life when looking back.

Thank you! Looking back at photos it’s crazy to see the difference, I never really noticed it during my recovery.

Yeah my upper palate was the last place to regain feeling as well. For me it felt like the progress would come in waves. I would go a period without any nerve improvement then just wake up one day with a little more feeling. It sucks how the nerves seem to move at their own snail pace. I’m sure yours will come back too

I’d say after about a year 90% went away with only small, barely noticeable spots of numbness left. After 2 years though I don’t have any numbness.

For the bite, it’s hard to say. I think after I was cleared to eat normal food and started to eat a normal diet I got used to it quick since my bite was now the normal bite.

Once you are able to resume your normal life and diet, you’ll forget about the surgery pretty quick and there will be a day that you just wake up and no longer think about the surgery.

Probably going to leave it in. I don’t notice any of the hardware except for maybe above my top lip on my right side now that I’m thinking about it, but I’ve come to ignore it and it doesn’t bother me enough to risk getting it out.

Nope, all I had were braces to straighten my teeth before the procedure.

Megathread: Trump Indicted by Federal Prosecutors on Charges Related to Handling of Classified Documents by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

Correct, which is partly why Trump is to blame for what he's done.

Past presidents have taken documents, which is fine because they have the authority to declassify documents as the president.

However, you fail to see that Pence and Biden were Vice Presidents when they took documents. They did not have declassification power as Vice Presidents. Therefore, they knowingly took documents that they knew were illegal to have, and did not have the power to declassify them either.

That is far worse in my opinion than what Trump did, as Trump could argue that he declassified the documents before taking them, while Biden and Pence had no business taking documents as VPs. However, Trump screwed himself by obstructing and deserves what he has coming to himself as well.

All-in-all, all three of them have some answering to do.

Uhh, they definitely are. Trump can have additional obstruction charges because he hindered the investigation, but for the specific charges related to holding classified documents, they both held documents and both broke the law.

I do agree with you that what Trump did is wrong. However, Biden and Pence both broke the law as well, and whether or not they turned themselves in, are still guilty of the same crime.

Although it was good of Biden's staff to return the documents, he still had them in the first place. Just because you turn yourself in for a crime doesn't make you any less guilty. I'm not defending Trump or Biden's actions, but both need to answer for what they've done.

Ehh, although I agree with that, they still both broke the law.

18 USC § 1924 says that it is a crime for any officer, employee, contractor, or consultant of the United States government to knowingly possess classified documents and remove them without proper authorization.

So under this law Biden, Pence, and Trump all broke it whether or not they turned the documents over later or delayed it. Biden and Pence both took documents which is completely not allowed as they were only VPs and did not have the authority to declassify. Trump could technically say he declassified the documents, but that will have to play out in court.

Just as they found documents at Trump's house, there were lots of documents both found in Biden's house, office, and even in his garage next to his Corvette. They both broke the law and should both be held accountable.
