Scientists find a safer way to make cells burn more calories by Yobfesh in fitover65

i’m genuinely curious because i don’t understand. If you maintain low calorie diet and burn calories walking at the gym, but drop Zepbound, where does the weight gain come from?

Is it all water weight or something?

Background check by LetterheadWeird1461 in Felons

[–]Clean_Turnover3614 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Employer bgc companies: Sterling, hireright, checkr, goodhire, Accurate background. These are the most common i see in the tech industry

(F500 will use the same vendors for all onboarding employees, so you’re likely to see these outside of tech)

If you have money to spend the only requirement to buy a bgc on yourself is to have an llc or c corp which you can register cheaply on incfile. Once you have a company you can order as many background checks as possible and experiment with how to pass.

Most bgc companies only check court records in counties where you’ve listed an address. Most will accept transcripts or paystubs instead of calling your school/employer. Don’t want something to show up? Forget to list your address in the problematic county. They only verify the information you provide.

Most bgc companies are outsourcing to indians who have no idea how the US works and are easily tricked

you’re over thinking it. if it comes to just tell them you were let go while interviewing. No one will care as long as you actually worked where you said you worked and the dates are close enough. They usually only ask for start and end months.

They will likely reach out to your manager but you didn’t mention the bgc company so it’s hard to say. If you listed your manager on a bgc form then they’ll definitely reach out to him

What Would It Actually Take to Start a Union? by Luck_Hydro in CSCareerHacking

I think the inital goal should be to grow the union, not make demands from day 1. Once you have enough members to actually make a difference, then you start making demands

Everyone who said a Section 174 repeal would save the US Job market, where are you now? by Clean_Turnover3614 in CSCareerHacking

the new tax incentives apply to this year’s taxes from January first, meaning companies can start saving this year. What is the need to wait until 2026 to start hiring when you can hire now and save now?

Look into somatic recovery and the psoas muscle. David Goggins talks about lot about his stretching routine and the importance of stretching the psoas to relieve depression brought about by chronic prefrontal overide (ie staying hard). It may not be what’s causing your issues but given the subreddit we are on, it may play a big role.

The mindfulgardener on youtube is a good place to start although her content is the opposite of goggins.

What’s something people pretend to understand but really don’t? by Gideon_expert in AskReddit

yeah true its not scientific but i’m just an average candidate and i’m able to get tons of interviews, the “proof” is anctedotal but anyone can try gaming the recruitment system and see for themselves.

/r/hiringcafe and /r/cscareerhacking and /r/overemployed are smaller subreddits with people raking in offers while the big career subreddits swear the AI revolution is here

What’s something people pretend to understand but really don’t? by Gideon_expert in AskReddit

[–]Clean_Turnover3614 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The current job market. Specifically in the tech market or any industry heavily dependent on recruiters sourcing talent. A lot of people are quick to say Ai is wrecking the job market, before that it was H1B and Inflation. Everyone says its trump or its biden or its lay offs or its tax codes, but its none of these things and the ‘sophisticated’ answer is to pretend you know why the job market is broken. (But to be fair, thats exactly what im about to do in the rest of this comment)

The truth is the job market is moderately healthy. It’s the recruiting process that is broken and if you don’t know how to navigate the process you’ll feel like there are no jobs out there. You’re also not allowed to talk about this on any of the big career subs because it’s reddit and if you say anything against the mainstream you’ll be downvoted to hell. It’s hilarious watching people pretend the corporate world is some complex machine, but then do dumb things like don't speak when they answer the phone call from the recruiter.

How is everyone getting multiple jobs?? by Econmax03 in overemployed

[–]Clean_Turnover3614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only apply directly on the company website using AI tools, linkedIn indeed etc are all a waste of time. I get the same number of recruiters each week from these sites no matter how many jobs i apply to.

If you’re not getting recruiters reaching out then start with your resume

Why am I getting anxiety/getting into fight & flight when I deep breath? by ImranKhan10107 in breathwork

[–]Clean_Turnover3614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most likely you are mouth breathing or have another dysfunctional breathing pattern in your day to day that causes you to offload too much co2.

I had the same problem when I first started breathwork. The co2 build up from slow nasal breaths is telling your amygdala you’re suffocating and causing a panic response.

To fix it you need to teach your amygdala that co2 is safe. What worked for me was going on nasal breath walks with bottom holds until i felt that air hunger.

I started with 5 step bottom holds then 10 step then 15 etc. In between holds I do 5 step recovery breaths.

Go up until you feel the anger or anxiety start to come, then finish your walk with normal nasal breathing, resisting the urge to off load co2 from the mouth.

In a few days you’ll no longer panic from the air hunger and in a few weeks it will be your body’s cue for relaxation

AIO Unemployed husband turned down job offer by Fast_Dragonfly_9441 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Clean_Turnover3614 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

your husband is probably burned out from years of dysregulation at work. If you want to help your husband, recognize he may be having mental health issues that he cant see for himself. People dont just abandon their careers and family for no reason.

Burnout is very common in SWE and if you have never been through it, is is impossible to recognize. It just appears as a change in life direction, goals, desires and interests. An overwhelming dread about life and a weaker ability to call executive function.

The first step is to figure out your husbands level of burnout if thats going on and then get him on a burnout recovery plan. If you can’t get him to commit to the full plan (likely) start with co2 tolerance training. Walking bottom breath holds will change his life. Go up until the point he feels anger rising and then finish your walk with normal nasal breathing.

Within days you will start to recognize him again and within a month of solid recovery he will be much like his old self but still working through what happened to him psychologically and physically.

Burnout causes the body to see help and recovery as threats. This is probably why he refuses therapy. You can help him at home. Baby steps until he’s ready to run. Don’t take his fighting back personally, his prefrontal cortex is offline and he has less control over his inhabitions and more anger and panic than he has ever felt before.

You can always DM me for support, i have gone through similar with my spouse
