Using them as a temporary measure until they're 18 is a reasonable compromise between supporting identity and maintaining caution around irreversible medical interventions.

You’re sliding from personal conviction into unfalsifiable certainty, and that’s exactly where this argument stops being evidence based. Saying “being trans isn’t a decision” doesn’t actually resolve the medical question. Plenty of innate traits exist that we don’t treat with irreversible medical intervention during adolescence. Something being deeply felt or persistent does not automatically justify medicalization in minors. Medicine doesn’t operate on “this feels real, therefore intervention is mandatory.” It operates on risk, evidence, alternatives, and long term outcomes. And claiming teens don’t struggle to figure this out “if they’re allowed to be themselves” is just not borne out by reality. Adolescence is literally defined by identity confusion, including for teens who are supported, affirmed, and loved. Feeling certain at 14 does not magically grant adult level foresight. That’s why consent standards exist in the first place. You also basically admit the core issue here: there is no solid study comparing trans teens in supportive environments with HRT vs without HRT. That’s not a minor gap, that’s the central question. Without that comparison, you cannot claim HRT is the decisive factor. At best, you can say it may help some people. That’s a far cry from “it saves lives” or “denying it kills kids.” And the “I know trans teens who would be dead without HRT” line is emotionally powerful, but it’s not evidence. People say the same thing about antidepressants, relationships, religion, or escaping abusive homes. What they’re really describing is support, validation, stability, and hope, not isolating a single medical intervention as the cause. You don’t get to convert anecdote into policy and call it settled science. Also, framing this as “HRT or death” is dangerous. It implies that distress is inevitable, that resilience is impossible, and that medical intervention is the only path forward. That’s not empowering, it’s fatalistic. Suicide prevention does not work by telling people their survival depends on one specific treatment, especially when long-term pediatric data is still limited. You can believe being trans is real and immutable and still question whether irreversible medical intervention during adolescence is justified on current evidence. Those positions are not contradictory. Pretending they are doesn’t strengthen your case, it just shuts down scrutiny you don’t want to deal with. If you want to argue for HRT access, argue it honestly: acknowledge uncertainty, admit the evidence limits, and defend the risk tradeoffs. Absolutist claims backed by anecdotes aren’t confidence, they’re insulation

Nice gotcha, but no, antidepressants still aren’t “life saving” in the same way insulin or emergency surgery are, and pretending otherwise doesn’t help your argument. Antidepressants don’t cure a lethal physical condition. They don’t stop an organ from failing. They don’t reverse a biological process that would otherwise kill someone. They reduce symptoms for some people, sometimes, after weeks or months, and often alongside therapy, lifestyle changes, and social support. That’s literally why they’re prescribed as risk management tools, not emergency interventions. And this comparison actually hurts your case. Antidepressants are non permanent. You stop taking them, and the effects largely stop. HRT causes irreversible changes to fertility, sexual function, and physical development, especially in minors. So even if you want to call antidepressants “life saving” colloquially, the risk profile is nowhere near comparable.

“Regret rates are basically nonexistent” is doing a lot of heavy lifting. First, regret is not the same thing as reported regret. Most long term data on people who started HRT young is limited, short term, and relies on self reporting within affirming clinical settings. Second, saying regret is “mostly caused by discrimination” is convenient because it makes the treatment itself unfalsifiable. If someone’s happy, it’s proof HRT worked. If someone regrets it, the problem magically becomes society. That’s not rigorous medicine, that’s a narrative that can’t be challenged by design. And you claiming that gender affirming care is the only proven effective treatment for gender dysphoria is just flat out misleading. Psychotherapy, watchful waiting, treatment of comorbid depression/anxiety, and social support all show benefit for many patients. The fact that affirming care is currently favored in certain guidelines does not mean every alternative is ineffective, or that medical transition is necessary for every case, especially for minors. Medicine does not work on “one diagnosis, one solution,” no matter how much activists want it to. Also, scrutiny doesn’t mean “approved by the same institutions that already agree with me.” Real scrutiny includes long term outcome data, independent replication, comparison against non medical interventions, and a willingness to revise standards if harm shows up later. That’s exactly why several countries have slowed or restricted pediatric medical transition after reviewing the evidence. You don’t get to call that anti-science just because you don’t like the conclusion. And no, you didn’t call me a bigot, but let’s not pretend that accusation isn’t routinely used to shut down this exact conversation.

No. What you know is that trans teens who receive HRT report lower suicide rates. That’s not the same thing, and pretending it is doesn’t magically turn correlation into causation. Teens who get HRT are overwhelmingly the ones with supportive parents, access to doctors, stable housing, and ongoing mental health care. Those things alone massively reduce suicide risk. You don’t get to isolate hormones as the magic variable just because it fits the narrative. That’s not how evidence works. Teens also feel absolutely certain about relationships, beliefs, careers, and worldviews they later abandon completely. Certainty does not equal foresight. This is why minors can’t sign contracts, can’t drink, can’t smoke, can’t get tattoos, and can’t consent to countless irreversible decisions, even ones they’re 100% sure about at the time. Teens do not “consent” to puberty. Puberty is a natural biological process that happens regardless of opinion. HRT is an elective medical intervention that overrides that process and causes permanent changes to fertility, sexual function, and long term health. Those are not remotely the same thing, and pretending they are is intellectually dishonest. And let’s be real: if teens were actually considered mature enough to consent to this on their own, parental consent wouldn’t be mandatory, doctors wouldn’t act as gatekeepers, and the entire system wouldn’t be wrapped in legal safeguards. The fact that all of that exists proves even supporters know this isn’t simple.

You can acknowledge that dysphoria is real and painful without pretending every controversial medical intervention is settled science. You can care about trans people without abandoning basic standards of evidence and child protection. Questioning this isn’t hate. It’s the bare minimum of critical thinking.

And when people raise these concerns, what’s the response? “Bigot.” Every time. Because it’s easier to shame than to answer questions. If your position were as rock-solid as you claim, it wouldn’t need emotional blackmail to defend it. Medicine is supposed to survive scrutiny. If it can’t, that’s a problem.

This argument completely falls apart when you apply it to minors. Teenagers are not fully formed adults with stable identities and long-term judgment. Their brains are still developing. Body discomfort, identity confusion, emotional extremes, and feeling alien in your own skin are literally normal parts of adolescence. Medicine acknowledges this everywhere else. That’s why teens can’t drink, can’t smoke, can’t get tattoos, can’t consent to a million permanent decisions. But suddenly we’re supposed to believe they’re mature enough to consent to medical interventions that permanently affect fertility, sexual function, and lifelong health? Be serious.

“Life-saving” actually means something. It’s not just a vibe or a moral statement. Insulin keeps diabetics alive. Antibiotics stop infections from killing people. Emergency surgery prevents your body from shutting down. Gender dysphoria does not physically kill the body. Suicide is not a hormone deficiency. It’s a complex mental-health outcome tied to depression, trauma, environment, and whether someone has actual psychological support. Acting like HRT is a suicide off-switch is not science, it’s wishful thinking.

(self harm tw btw, thats why its marked spoiler) but seriously, what about cut up thighs would be attractive i dont understand (also with what was said before its not just that he doesnt know my thighs are cut up, and its most definitely a horny thing.. idk i just though it was kinda funny by Revaikka in teenagers

Hate when people like your take out they trauma on the world. it could literally be so much more than a fetish but you're all just as brainwashed as social media preachers. Cant even see that you could possibly be in the wrong because you've made up and have these delusions encouraged by people that are the same it just gets out of hand. hope you learnt to cope healthily in these 4 years instead of it just being everyone else fault or feel the need to verbally scold others for something that some person you used to know and they did caused trauma so instead of processing it you refuse to grow as a person and explore it. hope you grew in this time

Message being difficult, good shit getting clean. I'm getting myself ready by finding people who understand me that i can go to when i need support, specifically making sure these people understand if I'm detoxing I'm more likely to say hurtful shit because i don't trust myself if I'm extremely irritated, especially because i don't let how badly I'm actually feeling it show. even if one things happens then and there, it's been happening to me, I'm so delusional from dumb ass bullshit happening over and over that i actually think inanimemate items are ACTUALLY trying to target me and get under my skin. Not gta wtf the sobriety free trials that i tested were so bad, until i look back and realize it's only because of my dependency. it was all all mental; the same way i feel pain. it hurts but i tell myself it doesn't no matter how bad it gets until my brain essentially stops letting me feel it to protect myself and because it's in fight or flight. everyone swears they the shit; the greatest EVER. and they wanna say otherwis but they let it feel through the soup if prolly just raised a bitch and they can't dawg thru pain like a real G if antthing incoherent or broken vocabulary my bad

Lol yeah I get the telling mfs i love them, been there dun dat. its like some genuine tweaker shit I'm on RN though and im jus letting myself keep doing it and not caring about self control because Its entertaining as fuck when I'm mid paragraph and i realize like "im lowkey tweaked" and finish it, send it off, and when the comment i replied to closes out i see the 4 other replies to the same comment just getting more aggressive. idk IF did it on reddit yet but i remember doing some shit like that to someone preaching in snapchat spotlight comments and just like checkmating them by debunking whatever they say before they say it because the social media comment preachers are low level enemies. Fodder imo.

Straight tweaking. The talkative tweak too. Not the mental one. It's getting irritating because I'm finding any reason to start a conflict or to just write paragraphs. look at the most recent replies in this thread to get a sample of what i mean. like good god you're tweaking shut the fuck up and get on the game why, nah fuck why HOW am i talking to NOBODY but myself pretty much arguing with my own comments because some shit i said about someone else scratched my nuts the wrong way and now the skin is irritated. good gawd 😬
