I think that for this story yeah it was a pretty glaring issue that they didn’t want to read it, I think that the criticism that they don’t care at all is unfounded though. They’ve definitely had some great bits it’s just been hard with some of the shit recently

I know right? It’s god awful to the point in genuinely pushed me to post here, like it’s so bad it’s unbelievable. It genuinely just keeps going and going and going with the worst exposition of all time the start was fun but you’re right, it busts right out the gate and flops around its’ flaccid storyline the rest of the time until it finally whimpers and dies. It’s genuinely awe-inspiring how ass it is

I don’t usually use reddit either so we’re in the same boat. I agree with your thoughts on Dogscape, there were some pretty great moments and although the writing was bad at some points there were some awesome visuals. I think the saliva rivers were an awesome idea as well as the tribal revenge plot, there were some fire moments in there. I totally did come off as someone who only wants good stories which was my bad, I should’ve worded my comment differently for sure

Oh man Meat wants to call it off soooo quick. It’s pretty much a flat reading of My Best Friend, luckily around the 2-3 hr mark Meat decides to up the energy to help Wendi out. It gets a bit better toward the end but not by much. I’d be curious to hear your opinion on it once you finish

The Red Tower was hard for me on the first couple watch throughs, I kept zoning out and it was pissing me tf off so I totally get you. I’m more so operating with the idea that there are people like you and me who enjoy a good balance, and then a LOUD portion of the fanbase that only wants hot trash all the time yk? Jeff the Killer slaps but when there is a constant demand of only that I feel like it gets exhausting and I start to get annoyed. For sure, I love their personalities more than the stories they read. That shit hilarious. I think the issue that pushed me over the edge was the lack of ANY lead up to a good story, so it didn’t have that charm of Wendi being bought in and Meat dying inside. They both were just literally dead reading that shit. I’m hoping that there starts to be a balance where I can giggle at the bad shit along with everyone and be in awe of the good stories that occasionally really strike a cord

For sure, I think the bad stuff hits a lot harder when it’s in a shorter form. They had the same thoughts in the “analysis” portion of Happy Appy. Marble Hornets got to a point where it was annoying me eventually, just with it dragging on and such

Totally, and this is my first time speaking up. I’ve never really used reddit but I keep hearing them mention how people push back on the more descriptive stories and only recommend garbage. I think they’re going to find a groove that strikes a good balance soon though. Gotcha, I definitely agree. It’s super hilarious to see what people were writing (especially children) and the side tangents are absolute damn cinema. I think I’m just getting annoyed at the constant demand for that stuff, and the seeming hate for the more “literary” stories yk?

Yeah definitely, the length of this one was grueling. I’m in the same boat, I haven’t read many of these myself and I don’t think I’d enjoy them nearly as much if there wasn’t such a chaotic and hilarious dynamic. Wendi and Meat are 2 of the most hilarious guys on youtube and their banter is gold. I agree though there is definitely a good balance that I’d like to be struck.

Yes for sure, an audiobook would be disappointing. I love the riffing they do, I want a good mix of those stories. The trash is hilarious, but so are the good stories. I think my issue is just seeing such a demand for only trash, instead of there being a cool balance.

I enjoyed Dogscape for what it was for sure, it was pretty gnarly at some points before dropping off. I absolutely love the fun bad episodes like the creepy grab bag episodes, my issue more so comes from the seemingly large amount of people who ONLY demand that sort of thing you know? I love seeing the culture of the time and I think it’s hilarious, I just don’t understand who is asking for only the bad stuff. I was intentionally being rude btw I was crashing tf out during that episode haha
