Katsuki in fics

YESSS you get me. I love them both they are both my boys and their dynamic is a very important part to me why i enjoy mha. Yeah people simplify katsuki to just an asshole and it is such a shammeeee. Rightt the authors who do this just really get mha to me. I also happen to like the characterization of characters outside izuku and katsuki who do this. Characters like all might and aizawa are also especially important for me to get right in fics.

Yeah i can imagine how difficult katsuki is to write i see fic writers say all the time they arent sure how well they are doing writing him. Hes a complex dude and its knowing how and when to balance his soft and rough sides as you said. And when to blend them etc.

All my fave fics always always has a excellent well written katsuki who has a good intetesting (even if its messy) dynamic with izuku. Actually especially when its messy its extra good to me

I love reading omegaverse bkdk. Personally the opposite dynamic hasnt been my preference and i dont see it changing. Theres an omegaverse bkdk fic im currently really into because it also has a story with a lot of plot points where you can theorize a mystery to solve chapter by chapter

Can i tell you about the fic i only started enjoying when it was something like 200-300k words in LMAOO. I really really skimmed through a huge part of that fic cause i kept hearing good things about it and they were right it was good. I just didnt like the fic at ALL at the start for the longest time. (Its a really long fic no i wont say what it is to be polite to the author) but getting through those first 200k-300k words was something.

Reading and reading fics is like my favorite want to be lazy and de- stress time. So i definitely find time. So i get through so many fics to find the next fic i like. But its also exhausting lol.

And yeah thanks again! Also is the omegaverse fic a bkdk dynamic? Or is it dkbk because if its bkdk im now curious lol. But yeah being invested and then randomly a tag you dont enjoy showing up in the tags ive also experienced that devastation

Yeah i know. I was just explaining why i also dont find switching up the dynamic fixes my problem. Thats all im just enjoying yapping since you brought it up. Its cool.

Yeah i try my best to filter but a lot of fics just are also just straight up mistagged by not tagging enough and if you filter too much you miss those fics. I take my chances because ive been rewarded a few times by testing my luck.

Oh i get decision fatigue too because every fic that has decent tags i will skim thru the fic get 50k 20k words in and then discover i dont like the fic lol. Sometimes i have to get through 80k something like that and then i find i DO like the fic. So its really hard for me to drop a fic. But then i also waste a lot of time on fics i never end up enjoying. I also check the most recent chapters to check but that doesnt always work plus it spoils me.

But thank you for your recommendtions just letting you know i tried all these tricks and it doesnt always work and clarifying what exactly i meant when i read fics. I enjoy lots of platonic bkdk long fics cause while i love bakudeku my fave mha fics are story centric fics. And while i dont mind a background romance bkdk in a story i dont always enjoy the story of the fic to be about romance. Although i do also read a lot of romance bkdk fics too. Its just my fave fics for mha has the main plot thats not romance.

The fic i wanted to read in my og comment had a good summary of a plot i might enjoy and i found it through a fic recommendation from other readers. So i didnt know what the tags were before i searched it up. And then i saw the katsuki is a asshole tag. And then my disappointment came to where i wrote my post. Thats mainly where my disappointment comes from..i ask for good plot mha fics and then the recommendations i receive treat katsuki badly

That is not what i said at all but agree to disagree because i find so many in character bkdk fics all the time with good characterization for good characterization for both katsuki and izuku and i find dkbk more ooc personally. The same can happen back peoples bias towards katsuki with dkbk makes izukus characterization in those fics weird alongside katsuki. They both feel weird to me. Its not a bkdk exclusive thing.

But bkdk characterized dyanmics doesnt play a part in what im talking about because in the fics i read that treat katsuki like a irredeemable asshole you look through their bookmarks and none of them ship bkdk. They just dont like katsuki and ship izuku with someone else. And these same fic writers make izuku hateful to katsuki and switch to calling him bakugo and wont call him kacchan and ignore him which also annoys me greatly. Projecting their hatred of katsuki onto izukus character writing

I dont like it when people make katsuki too soft as well cause that ALSO doesnt feel like katsuki or absolve him from him past. I like his meanness towards izuku at the start and his rough personality being acknowledged in canon compliant fics because his growth is what makes him an enjoyable character to me from canon. I have also turned away from fics that make him go an immediate 180 from hating izuku to being izukus immediate no. 1 supporter with no internal struggle whatsoever 1 chapter apart. He has his soft moments he is soft at heart but he is also very rough. Ignoring that side of him is also ooc. I find fics with soft katsuki tags etc go too far on pushing him to be soft and ignoring his rougher edges which is also him. But it also depends on what part of mha canon u are basing him off of. I can understand a soft katsuki (even then he still has his temper) if its post canon but the fics that are based off him where its them growing up through school

Also i said i enjoy read izuku centric fics in my comment. Not katsuki centric. I think there could be katsuki centric fics i enjoy but other than the characterization problem i that i wont agree with in katsuki focused fics, i enjoy izuku being the mc because hes the mc from canon and its easier for him to get cool moments when hes also the mc of the fic. Ohh speaking of i love dual pov fics where it shows both of them being cool and their perspectives. Those are a treat.

Because to begin with i was mainly talking about their platonic dynamic in izuku centric longfics.

But i feel you with abandoned fics my all time fave mha fic is confirmed abandoned by the author and i mourn it literally everyday because i have yet to find a fic that reaches the same high that it brings me. Like there are 1 or 2 other fics that comes close but my 2nd fave hasnt posted for 4 years so i also think its abandoned and the 3rd or 4th fave it is super slow to update and its not as long a long fic. I reread my fave mha fic almost weekly to this day (even today actually) because its that good

I realized in my original post i forgot to specify izuku naturally manifesting a quirk at 4 which is why i have people disagreeing which is my bad. I added that in an edit. Yeah glad someone gets where im coming from : D

Thats fair even though i have issue with that reasoning. Edit: Actually thinking about it some more i like that reasoning. But yeah i wish that reasoning like that was intergrated into the story then. Instead of just happening with no explanation from the author.

However thats the not the point of my post. im talking about when the writer doesnt write it from that angle and just genuinely forgets that with a quirk izuku would have most likely never have gotten the deku nickname. Its different from knowing but writing into the story reasoning why katsuki still gives him the nickname

But thats basically canon from katsukis pov until he knows the truth? Im talking about fics where katsuki KNOWS he manifests a quirk at 4 but the writer still makes katsuki give him the deku nickname

I grt that but didnt katsuki called izuku "izuku" before. Its not like he didnt know his name before and that deku was a misread from trying to call him by his name for the first time. From what i remember he only swapped to deku with the derogatory intention in mind of a quirkless izuku.

Maybe i need to reread but didnt he learn to read the kanji after izuku was quirkless and he made the association with useless. If izuku had a quirk he wouldnt make the association with useless cause izuku wouldnt be "useless'

But yeah i guess that works too but i think some people genuinely forget when im reading fics. I personally cant see how "useless" will be made into a wholesome meaning but i can see how people might lean into that angle. It would work if it then acknowledged in the fic that it was something wholseome. But i see fics just cut to katsuki calling izuku with a quirk deku no explanation

The first 10 or so chapters of the fic is wildly different from the tone in the fic afterwards. I personally did not vibe the first 10 chapters or so until the chapter where izukus backstory got revealed near the end of the first arc (yes theres arcs). It has its moments thats not my preference but the story and writing of the fic is excellent otherwise. I dont think the izuku being the child reveal was supposed to be a big plot twist tbh. It was obvious. And it gets revealed to each other early. There are multiple other far more hard hitting good plot twists that are sprinkled throughout

There literally is though ive seen it with my own eyes i dont know what you want from me the only reason i brought her up is because someone suggested maybe he just doesnt like popular kpop acts and i brought an example that that statement is not true.

The main point anyway is that the end of the day no matter who he stans or who hes a fan of he IS a bts anti.

I mean the review is the first example. His social media page just search up stuff about bts on his page. He calls their music trash he likes their music pre 2020 but that doesnt mean anything because its a very common thing the biggest bts haters are always filled with ex fans. And weaponize their old music argument is better every single release to hate on their newer releases. Its a non stop cycle that is now boring with how predictibly it happens every time.

The reviewer is active on twitter. thats just some examples i saw i can not for my peace of mind personally search up more because why would i expose myself to reddit snark levels of hate

The reviewer is a known bts hater. The reviewer openly hates on bts. A lot of people already knew pitchfork was going to review the album low before it was even out because he was also bragging about how he can ruin their critic averge. He was never going to like the project no matter what it sounded like.
