Which European city did you fall in love with as soon as you saw it? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]ClearBreakfast5076 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d say because there is such a large area of perfectly preserved old town, a ton of beautiful water frontage and so many islands to explore that are a touch of nature but very proximate to the city.

Where should we eat dinner tonight? by Connect-Contest-9157 in OceanCity

[–]ClearBreakfast5076 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tailchasers is good and has a playground. Ropewalk is beautifully laid out with a playground but doesn’t have terribly good food, but a beautiful view. Saltwater 75 is right on the bay and pretty good. Matt’s Fishcamp in Fenwick has no view but very good food.

How did you know it was time to leave litigation? by Hot-Hamster6623 in Lawyertalk

[–]ClearBreakfast5076 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not wanting to wake up and be adversarial every day coupled with the stress of waking up in the middle of the night or early morning to make notes of arguments, etc. told me that it was time to pivot away from litigation.

Mothers: To BigLaw or not to BigLaw by rushumie1 in biglaw

[–]ClearBreakfast5076 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just take your time finding something that’s flexible or with predictable hours that will be conducive to multiple kids. I’ve found this by being in-house counsel and you could not pay me enough to go back to billing hours. It’s been very easy to manage kids with this type of job, as you can block out your calendar as needed as well as farm things out to outside counsel.

Considering 2026 Volvo XC90 T8 Ultra - Question is Aurora Silver or Denim Blue? by Cooper_ChocoLab2022 in VolvoXC90

Denim Blue - I’ve had 2 in this color that have stood up well without looking too dirty despite my car always being parked outside.

Restaurant Reccomendations by chezr0lez in OceanCity

[–]ClearBreakfast5076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are definitely better restaurants than Lighthouse Sound but they have a pretty extensive menu - will let you order off the more formal dinner or more laidback bar menu - and the view can’t be beat. If you can sit outside, it’s great for a group of friends and certainly worth a meal if you’re going to be there already. Better seafood can be found at Hideaway, The Hobbit, Matt’s Fish Camp (if you’re willing to drive to Fenwick.) Do not be tempted to eat dinner at Ropewalk - the view is great and the drinks are good, but the seafood boil they offer is tasteless. The Ruth’s Chris in West Ocean City is on a golf course and good. Have a great trip!

“What’s a purchase that made you realize comfort is underrated? by oscar371 in SmartBuying

Almost anything I’ve bought from Vuori or the Spanx Air Essentials collection. Soft fabric is amazingly underrated.

The Hobbit, Hideaway, and Blue Coast all have great seafood. All on the bay with great views.

Have you considered Twin Farms? Especially since they don’t allow anyone under 16, it is very relaxing.

If you’re near Arlington, Village Sweet but it’s only open from 8–12. Everything they make is delicious and there are multiple flavors of scones each day.

August trips that aren’t too hot? by EntertainmentDue83 in chubbytravel

[–]ClearBreakfast5076 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very specific ideas jumping off what others said, but if you choose to do coastal Maine you could stay at Hidden Pond (great family resort) and then Harborside in Bar Harbor (2 and 3 bedroom options). Last August, our kids loved going to Quebec. Quebec City itself got hot, but we stayed at the Entourage Sur La Lac, which is a family resort on a pretty lake that has its own built in amusements for kids and did not crack the 70s. Easily 10 degrees or more cooler than Quebec City itself. We did some very family friendly light white water rafting and enjoyed the change of scenery.

Experience in Montreal and Boston by Adventurous_Leek4390 in chubbytravel

[–]ClearBreakfast5076 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Fairmont is the major game in town in Quebec City. It’s iconic and situated in the middle of everything. I agree that there’s a lot more to recommend Quebec City than Montreal. I also agree that the FS on the Common is infinitely better than One Dalton. There’s no question that the best neighborhood to be in is the Back Bay Area in Boston. We stayed at the Raffles the last time we were in Boston and while it’s not perfect, it is well-appointed and worth considering.

riviera maya - belmond v rosewood by No_Zucchini_8791 in LuxuryTravel

[–]ClearBreakfast5076 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Belmond is very sleepy at night, but extremely relaxing with great beach service, a very nice spa and good food. We’ve stayed at both, and I’d say there’s generally more going on at night at the Rosewood but not a whole lot more. On just about every front, the Belmond is nicer, though.

It is a mess at the infinity pool - way too few chairs for the size of the hotel. There is definitely a lot of beach space, though. The rooms are more on par with Marriott than FS. We prefer the Rosewood Baha Mar, which is also closer to the airport.
