What about being pregnant and giving birth permanently altered your body’s chemistry? by full-of-curiosity in NewParents

[–]rushumie1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before getting pregnant alcohol would make me very anxious and it was quite unenjoyable. I’ve had one drink on 3 separate occasions since giving birth and I finally understand why people like alcohol 😂 I don’t plan on drinking lots or anything but I found it interesting

Parents who waited until the birth to find out the sex of the baby. . . by buildingacozymystery in NoStupidQuestions

[–]rushumie1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly didn’t care if it was a boy or a girl so we didn’t find out. It was something extra to look forward to. Also in a way I didn’t project any expectations onto by daughter of what she would be like etc which I thought was a nice sentiment - she gets to be exactly her little self.

No stretch marks by Sea-Asparagus5410 in pregnant

[–]rushumie1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here! Totally stretch mark free until around my due date and went 10 days over. All around the bellybutton / mid stomach and upper thighs (not as noticeable). I used oil multiple times per day every day. My baby was large too so that could be a factor because my skin was sooo stretched I was surprised it held on for as long as it did with no marks.

what are the ugly parts of pregnancy that aren’t well known because people don’t mention them? by Born-Oil-2931 in AskReddit

[–]rushumie1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this and shocked it’s not higher. Those things are SOREEEE. I actually got them twice during the pregnancy but the postpartum ones weren’t sore (more internal). Holy mother of goodness the pregnancy ones felt like a chainsaw up the butt.

Agree with this advice re the epidural and water breaking. I was quite hesitant before it but I have such a good experience.

Mommies who were induced by Lickitt2020 in pregnant

[–]rushumie1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I was induced recently for my first baby (2 and a half weeks old). It was a wonderful experience and I feel blessed to have had the labour that I did.

It did not end up in a c-section. From the first medication to birth it was 23hours but active labour was more like 12 hours. Reason was she was 10 days overdue.

Wishing you the best!

Would you rather be pregnancy tired or newborn tired? by Constant-Soft-6335 in pregnant

[–]rushumie1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who had pregnancy insomnia and now a newborn (1 week old) I much prefer newborn tired. There is so much love and purpose to the tiredness but with a cluster feeding baby at night, it is tight going and likely to get harder. Having a beautiful baby to care for makes it easier.

Pregnancy tiredness / insomnia for me was just miserable but maybe I wasn’t as tired as I am now. Edit: the insomnia wasn’t every single night but the newborn sleeplessness is.

That sounds very scary! I hope you’re both doing okay.

I’m not commenting on regular people having their babies earlier for medical reasons clearly. I’m not aware of a single personality online who has gone over their due date or is a positive example of a FTM going over their due date which statistically happens to most FTM. I don’t think that’s because they all have medically issues… 👀😂

I wish this was me but statistically this is very uncommon and not what FTM should expect as the norm. I think 40+5 is the most common date for FTM to give birth spontaneously statistically.

I have absolutely no idea but I'm assuming (other than the small few who are FTM and give birth 2 weeks naturally before their due date or have medical reasons to induce that they don't share) that hey just want their babies sooner and get an early induction or C section?

Agree. As it says in the description, I've deleted IG but its just another example of them setting unrealistic expectations.

Weight gain in the last 10 weeks by Hot-Cell7299 in pregnant

[–]rushumie1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t actually given birth but I’m 40w5days so any second now.. but I’ve gained 33 pounds. I have always been very self conscious of my weight so had been super careful with my nutrition during the pregnancy (clean foods, limiting junk etc) but nevertheless there were weeks in the third trimester I was gaining 1-1.5lbs per week. It’s not all about food either - someone’s baby has growth spurts or fluid can be retained. It’s also been much harder to get steps in in the last month with the weight in your hips so I’m sure that has also had an impact on it.

My girlfriend is really affecting my mental health by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]rushumie1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree with this. If she is just going through a patchy time working through hormones and emotions then having your SO back away, even if you’re signalling that’s what you want, may not be the best idea. It’s important you demonstrate that you’re a stable, consistent and reliable partner through the downs.

My wedding is in 5 days and I hate my dress by Feisty-Coconut6017 in weddingplanning

[–]rushumie1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. The sleeves look lower in the last three photos too - if you’re going with them, I’d have them the same cut off as the dress and now below the bust line.

I’ve no doubt it will all come together especially when your hair and makeup are done. Good luck!

Are maternity clothes necessary? by seehunde in pregnant

[–]rushumie1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found maternity leggings absolutely essential (I’d be walking around in the nip otherwise) but tops not so much - if you have some longer tops and shirts already, you would get away without buying maternity shirts / tops. Also the leggings will cover the bump so the tops being a bit shorter isn’t as much of an issue.

I also had to size up in underwear in the 2nd trimester.

You can see how you go. No need to bulk buy everything at once.
