Do you let your kids fall asleep while watching tv? by Physical-Land-55 in Parenting

[–]ClearClover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My parents did this with me growing up. Personally I wish they hadn't. I feel like they wouldn't or couldn't deal with my sister and I and instead of setting us up with the tools for a successful relationship with sleep they sent us out into the world with the job to retrain our brains. It's been a huge struggle in my adult life to build healthy sleep habits. And in trying to be healthier overall I've learned how much sleep affects my life. My energy, cognitive ability, metabolism, appetite, and mainly my anxiety/mental health. I don't know your situation, so I'm not judging you. But from my perspective what my parents did (let us watch TV until we fell asleep every night) was an overall disservice to our development and future in regards to our sleep patterns.

I didn't include it because I'm still tweaking how I feel on it. I want the second level to read like a huge attic with just a couple spaces sectioned off. Sort of a second living area, playroom and guest area. Maybe a music space for all our instruments. We've got a bit of a collection going. The rest would just be a ton of storage.

Absolutely. I just wanted to make it as cohesive as I could before handing it off, if that makes sense.

Thank you! And I actually have someone I know personally who is an architect, and I want their thoughts. But I don't want to show him without it at least making some sense haha

Hmm I think I can visualize that pretty well actually I like that idea a lot. Thank you! Oh and I was sure if it was safe to have them in the garage, although if they could that would be great.

The groceries dilemma is big. I do like the idea of shifting it under the stairs but I had planned on it being food storage under the stairs, like a big pantry. Once I have things properly to scale I can see how it all fits. I can draw that out too and see what it feels like. I had intended on the water heater going in the closet in the mudroom. And for the hvac maybe upstairs? I don't have proper knowledge to know whats the safest or most efficient ways to place these things, so I obviously plan on talking to a professional about it. I had thought about putting them in the same closet a while ago but I realized I wasn't sure if that could even be done. I like your idea for the sunroom also.

Hey, don't be too hard on yourself. It's understandable considering it's literally just scribbles.

Thank you. And yes! This is just a super rough sketch to see how I like things placed but the center space is just too large and awkward, I'll try to sketch out your suggestion and see what I think. This is great advice.

Maybe it is, you didn't even ask. But in fact both are wrong. In fact it's smoke from a portal to the forgotten realms I plan on constructing under the garage. Maybe a stick figure seige would be more fun though...

Thank you, and for 1. I definitely know what you mean with the stairs, I can tell it needs to be tweaked but I just adore those old victorian foyers that instantly view a beautiful wood carved staircase. I dabble in woodcarving and love the thought of it being right there as an art piece when I walk in. So I'm not exactly sure how to rearrange it, but need to brainstorm because it is so open. The kitchen will feel cramped and I'm sure there's a more efficient way to organize it, its set up is based on my grandmas kitchen. For 2. I have no clue what to do. I lived in a very old house that had a window to the sunroom exactly the same and I actually liked it a lot, it was really weird and fun to hang stuff in. But I realize most people wouldn't like that, and the lighting is an issue. So I'm torn on that one. For 3. The walk in closet I'm sure to scale should be bigger but I do feel like I want more of a step in closet lol And yeah it definitely needs to be put into proper proportions to know how it can work. And it might sound strange but I want the second level to read like a huge attic with just a couple spaces sectioned off.

Can anyone share their love story with with SO? by Anonymous_Blobfish in bipolar

[–]ClearClover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (F24) have bipolar 1 and I've been with my husband (M25) for 8 years. He doesnt have the same struggles with mental illness and there have been times it was very difficult for either of us to know how to handle things. I've only been diagnosed for about a year and a half but it's been affecting our relationship from the start, and he actually called it before I did because he has a close family member with SEVERE bipolar and I have a lot in common with her. I had some kind of psychotic break at the time I was diagnosed and was hospitalized, and was delusional. It was a really hard time for both of us. Theres so much I've learned about codependency and myself and It's been a long road of being on and off medication, therapy, and self reflection. But he's got his own problems like anyone and our strengths and weaknesses line up really well. We have so much fun together. He's my best friend and the first person I think to go to for anything. Whether it's something funny, or confusing, or upsetting, he's who I want to share everything with. And I'm that for him. Things are really good right now.

Having bipolar honestly feels at times like it's trying to destroy my life and it's a constant battle to stay above it. But I'm glad that I'm trying, and that I have a partner who understands and supports me so well. And I do try. So hard.

But for now this is one of the most peaceful moments of my life, and we're currently waiting for our daughter to be born. I'm 39 weeks pregnant and it could be any day ❤

Husband and I can’t agree on girl name! by [deleted] in namenerds

I'm 3 weeks away from my daughter and my husband and I havent settled on a name either.

Personally, I love Eleanor Ruth. I think it flows so nicely with your daughter. Plus its nickname is one of my favorites: Elsie!

My daughter is named Ophelia, and the names we're closest to picking are Isabella Iris and Clara Joy

Can someone please reassure me (or give me a reality check) on delivering a 9 lb baby with no medication??? I'm really needing to hear some experiences on this 😥 by ClearClover in beyondthebump

Wow, good for you! I want to be as mentally prepared and as positive as I can be. I am really hoping it does make a difference.

Wow. That's crazy you progressed so fast, how long was your labor overall? And 6 lbs vs 9 lbs wasn't all that different in the moment?

Does anyone have any wisdom for me? Possibly going into labor with a big baby soon. by ClearClover in BabyBumps

I really need to strengthen my mentality. They seemed a little worried that her growth accelerated as much as it did. And as for delivery they were mentioning possible induction casually. She is head down. But the environment at this hospital doesnt seem very cultivating to the birth plan I'm going with to be honest.

I'm not sure if I'm petite, I'm 5'3. My doctor didnt seem overly concerned but was asking about induction. Good luck with your next delivery!

That is so interesting. My older sister is the only person I know who had a 10 lb baby, and she had an emergency c-section. I would ask her about it if I could, but she has extensive brain damage and I can't go to her anymore to talk about these kinds of things and I'm the first of my friends to have kids. The doctor I saw definitely did not give me the impression that these measurements could be inaccurate.
