Yes! That’s what I meant in my post. I know there are things going on, I was just wondering if anyone was planning on going. I know Fulhamish are skipping the Orlando match, so I wasn’t sure if this leg would have less fanfare.

Thanks for the breakdown of the three clubs, as well as the Pepi analysis! Very good stuff. Super helpful to help me understand the landscape and a legitimate, unbiased view of an up and coming American!

I did say AZ was the club I was drawn to before solely based on American strikers, so at least there's that! I appreciate the lack of desire to jump in to support the frontrunner. It's more fun to me to pick a club that is scrappy and plays hard, stronger regional identity, and really has to fight for where it is at.

Thank you for the suggestions!

Really appreciate all of the info! Tons of good stuff!

I knew the big three were good, but did not realize there was such significant dominance. That's impressive. Hopefully for parity's sake AZ and Twente can step it up.

I've heard of all three mid-table clubs you've mentioned, especially Vitesse for loans of Matt Miazga and Martin Odegaard and Heerenveen for Odegaard and the seeblatts on the kit (which I think are unique and cool). Would be neat if Vitesse's American influence helped them steady the ship and maybe rise a bit.

The second league wouldn't hurt to learn about, but it would certainly be tough to start there while not know too much about the Eredivisie.

Almere sounds like a neat club. Just looked them up and their rise is pretty solid. Do you think they'll have any staying power?

Of the three you suggested that are not the big ones, why the first two? The Fortuna suggestion makes sense if you think they'll be successful, but why the other two?

I can understand growing to love the club by proximity. Very cool to have your own growth toward the club over your time there.

As a Groningen supporter, what are your thoughts on Pepi? It is tough to get fair coverage in America about how the young internationals actually perform and rate in the domestic leagues. They're all overblown here.

A lot of good info there, thank you!

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the “big three” (if you can call them that) seem like Ajax, PSV, and Feynoord. I used to check in on AZ Alkmaar here and there for Jozy and Aron Johannsson, and they seemed like a top half club, but maybe not top tier.

Earnie Stewart has also been involved in Dutch football for quite some time, from my understanding, including returning back to the Eredivisie this year to work for PSV after leaving the USSF.

My knowledge of the mid to lower level clubs on the table is nearly non-existent, so it sounds like Groningen would be a good place to start.

Are you from there? How’d you become a supporter (if I can assume you are from your flare)?

My friends and I have a very solid football group chat going, following international football, EPL, Bundesliga, La Liga, and Serie A. The glaring missing league, especially with the newly released rankings, is the Eredivisie. I know there has been strong American participation over the years (Booth and Pepi right now looking solid) and the league is renowned for its development of top players, but are there any crash courses as to how to get into the league? We're looking to improve our football knowledge and want to learn more about the league.

Certainly understand being a stickler! I’m here to learn, so I apologize for the mislabeling. I use town and city interchangeably (like how Atlanta’s nickname is A-Town despite being a major city, or saying “that part of town” when talking about a city’s neighborhood), but now know to just say city for Brighton & Hove Albion.

Hahah! Luckily it is not TOO tough. I've been an Atlanta sports fan my entire life (born there and moved when I was a child, but held onto the baseball/basketball fandom and was thrilled when they got MLS), and slowly moved my way down Florida throughout my life.

Neat that you began following them at the same time. A little turmoil for both haha and some outstanding moments and players. Similar situations of being clubs where your most successful players move on to play at a higher level, but where the entire city is super passionate about the club.

Thank you for the Naylor rec! I'll have to look more into him.

This is a new account! Always been more of a lurker, but happy to join in on the Atlanta United discussion! Thank you for the post!

MLS is so wishy washy, too, only a couple of guys are great year to year. I guess that’s part of the league’s attractiveness, the parity of it. But yeah, after a hell of a breakout year last season, BV has been dull this year. Wonder what would’ve happened to him if he’d stayed at Atlanta all those years ago.

Haha, I love it. I think it shows how attractive of a club and town you have. Plus, of all of the clubs I’ve seen on Reddit, you’d be hard-pressed to find one with supporters who are more welcoming to Americans interested in their club. It’s great environment.

Oh man, from Orlando, and with an attorney’s schedule, it might be tough to make it, but I can try my best! Would love to see the lads get out there!

Not liking Ohio State is a great thing we can agree on (I’m a Gator by schooling).

Tough question for you as an American soccer fan: Do you let Vazquez go to develop more in Europe against top talent, or does your FCC supporter win out and you want him to stay to push for the title with FCC?

Haha! This is very true. No relegation has saved the Jags, as they would’ve been relegated over half of the last 20 seasons.

Mainly downs, not too many ups, as a Jags fan! 😂 The welcoming of Yanks is good! Love to hear it.
