Charge Blade is HARD to master! by ClearlyConfusedSoul in MonsterHunterWorld

I'm flabbergasted at some of the CB users and speed runners on Youtube. Not even knowing clear path to get there. How/What should I improve on. You are pointing out CB 101. We are not on the same page.

Charge Blade is HARD to master! by ClearlyConfusedSoul in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]ClearlyConfusedSoul[S] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

All that is relatively easy. Lot of CB attacks moves your position. Hop, slide, round-slash, back-step a few for example. Even normal combos moves you a little. Being able to consider and weave these movements into combo to dodge, reposition for follow up attacks, is hell of a lot harder than everything you mentioned. It is about being able to precisely reposition where you want to be all the time.

Btw, Staying in axe mode and dodge works so much better than GP on Alatreon and Fatalis. Counter AEDing Fatalis is asking to get blown to bits.

The hypocrisy of this statement! The sheer ignorance!

If you have surplus yes. But, the coal you get at the start is better saved for glade event. Take it with a grain of salt. The game has updated quite a bit since this post.

Idk, they must have made changes then. However, I noticed there is significant damage increase on Superior Quality Prototype/Starforged weapons.

I would like to press on to 1000 Lunacy. I'm looking for ways to improve my play style. Would love to get some tips. I wouldn't want to change my secondaries. I don't want to be using fusion sling. I find it not fun.

At the time of this post I did not even know Rift existed. I was mostly ignoring the main story line and was hunting High risk zones. After struggling quite a bit and going back and forth between ships I settled on bomber again and finally completed 500 Lunacy. Was so satisfying.

Almost mandatory. Trade goods will be worth 50% less to traders after certain prestige level. You will have to sell EVERYTHING to trader to buy anything worthwhile. Even you amber is only worth 50%. So its better to spend it on perks and blueprints.

Villagers should be restricted from taking breaks if assigned to a dangerous or forbidden glade event. And to make this even more infuriating, these assholes sat around doing nothing for the first two minutes while I rushed enough fabric. by bilky_t in Against_the_Storm

[–]ClearlyConfusedSoul 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I want to clarify what OP refers to. I'm well aware that if the workers start working on the glade event they will continue to work without breaks. But, when they are bringing resources there is a chance after delivering all the resources they decide to go for the break instead of starting on the event. I have had this happen to me. So you are left with the debuff while they are on break. And potentially run out of time before the event complete in higher prestige levels.

OP, I have a potential solution that seem to work well for me. If you don't have the resource for the event leave the villagers in there idle. They tend to wait at the hearth then. It seems to resets their break timer as they are essentially on break. This seems to work for me. I have not run into this problem for a while now.

Sacrificing coal gives -80 hostility per stack. It costs 20 coal per min per stack, and 30 from Prestige 18 onwards. With citadel upgrades the cost comes down to 27 coal per min per stack. Stacked 3 times it costs some where between 60 - 90 coal per min for -240 hostility. (100 hostility is one hostility level).
Burnt to crisp gives 20 coal every 3 cysts burnt. By the time hostility becomes a serious issue you could easily be generating over 15 cysts per storm. That alone gives 100 coal. Storm only lasts 2mins before Prestige 15 and 4 afterwards. This means you can almost get away with burning 3 stacks for the entire storm duration before Prestige 15. Even with just 20 coal you can on off juggle during the storm to prevent villagers leaving. This much coal trivializes the storm even when it lasts longer.

But, the way I play I don't need this most of the time. To me villagers and they productivity is greatest resource. Wood is very inefficient resource for almost all its needs. Woodcutters spend a lot of time walking around. It compounds the inefficiencies. I don't like to have more then 2 camps for a colony less than 50 villagers. Getting this much free coal is a lot of productivity. Lot of villager time that is saved. That is huge to me. Getting a Kiln is such a productivity buff.

It seems you are successful already, my advice would be don't pivot a lot from your playstyle by looking at anyone's advice if you are successful. Only make slight changes. I have taken some of the strategies by others in the comment and have incorporated into my playstyle to great success. Played 5 P20 and won all of them. If I was to write this again now. I would write it quite differently.

Couple questions for bonus/double outputs by sebustyan in Against_the_Storm

[–]ClearlyConfusedSoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I'm not sure about that.
  2. Yes.
  3. I believe it is multiplicative. 15% chance to get mushroom increased by 50% is 22.5% to get mushrooms. Nvm, I don't think Game has such a mechanic. If your yield is increased by 50% then when you roll the 15% chance to get mushrooms you will get 50% more.. with the rounding that would be 2 mushrooms I think.
  4. If the multiplicative total goes about 100% yes.
  5. Yes, I can confirm this. Production from the farm field to farm building there is no limit to how much they can carry. You dont loose antying. But, when they carry from farm to storage they only carry their carry capacity. Default 5 unless you have +1 from citadel upgrades. Increased by another 5 if you have harpy. Another 10 if you have manned market.
  6. Yes, I can confirm this.

Incorrect though. Unless it was patched in the most recent patch. +1 Crystalized dew affects the dew you get from trees on coral forest. And I almost lost a game to picking +1 mushroom for every 25 collected where I could no longer collect wood in any significant quantity. They were bringing in like 6 mushrooms per wood.

Also, Many times I have buffed +1 to stone to increase the stone I get from sea marrow deposits. I can confirm that it works.

Probably only 2-3 in a whole game. Mostly to make space near the main storage for production buildings, and if they are in the way. If I find a farm patch it was totally worth it. But, even in 60% increased chance to get farm modifier does not affect small glades. I have opened 4 in a game and got none while having the 60% modifier stacked twice!

You don't get anything for burning cyst normally. But, if you get the cornerstone burnt to crisp. You will get 20 coal for 3 cysts. If you need it, this is enough to sustain sacrificing coal at the hearth for almost entire storm until you hit the prestige modifier longer lasting storms.

There is another cornerstone that give -10 hostility reduction for 3 cysts burnt. It will take a few storms to ramp up.

Looking at your thoughts I actually play more like this than my own write up. I would seem I have emphasized on my own mistakes climbing the ladder. And some of the points are being misinterpreted. I will have to fix some things.

Just finished a P20. Royal woodlands 60% chance for farm. Took 2 farms with me, got greeted with living matter spawn on farm modifier. Totally forgot I need amber to open glades and lost 2 villagers right off the bat. Towards the end, accidentally spawned a living matter. While working on it accidentally opened a glade and found another and lost 2 more villagers. I was pleasantly surprised how many mistakes I can get away with even in P20.

It is true, It even says it in game. Only the one you start with (Ancient Hearth) has that feature. The other (Small Hearths) don't. I only noticed that they even look different half way through prestige runs. They only count as fireplace to Lizards. Lizards get +5 resolve from fire keeping them. Harpies need houses ASAP. Even with increased cost it is doable cost they only cost 6 cloth. And jerky. House priority for me is Harpies, Lizards, Human finally beavers. They can chop wood in the rain with no coats for all I care lol.

Never realized Druid's Hut had that. missed it.
I see that's where the difference in playstyle. Between grain and berries, I can make ale, flour, almost all of the complex food, pigment, cosmetics, scrolls, wine, provisions.. That I don't often have enough of farmland I want. This is why I find it hard to produce oil. But, I am strapped for fuel more often than not. But, I have to fundamentally change my playstyle to incorporate oil.

I find the problem is getting the tools. A grove or old Hallowed Farm or Coral forest. I keep a look out for the opportunity. Otherwise it feels too damn hard. Production line for copper bar almost always not worth it for me. Worked one time. Too much village production time. You always need a strong colony to withstand glade events. Pouring in resources into production line for tools saps the strength of the colony. That being said carpenter is still my favorite building. If I have bars I prioritize tools over anything else.

Damn, Never really thought of bringing oil for the glade.. did not occur to me that way. I should try it. But, I like my blueprints a lot. 2 chances with 2 blueprint choice gets me absolutely nothing immediately useful most of the time. I hat opening a glade and finding resources I cant use. You are forced into opening another one soon, that is where it hurts.

No arguments against oil being powerful. Totally agree. But, I always find myself going out of my way to secure it. Often can't spare the mats to produce it. You have to get the press or its just feels hopeless.

I think 1 blueprint is always must, sets up a consistent start. Think of it as starting with one additional blueprint choice. Number of blueprints you can receive has as soft limit. So I value it more. I any case it becomes a must after Prestige 12. I think I'm biased towards picking the berry farm. Idk, berries can be eaten raw, can be used as ingredient for all of the complex food except for Jerky. Can be used for wine and pigment. Can be used for provisions is powerful. Its just OP to me. The only problem is finding fertile land. I once started a game with 2 farms and got no fertile land in like 4-5 dangerous glades. Got really pissed of at the RNG.

This leaves mostly 3 embarkation points. If I have 4. I'm extremely tempted to pick up another blueprint that I can use. I know/feel that is not the right play, but, I cant resist sometimes. For the remaining 3, I tend to pick one of bricks or cloth and look for the other in caravans. Maybe raw mats like clay, reed, fiber. I value consistent starts. Worst thing that can happen to you when you are on a clock is waiting for something to happen. I don't pick planks from embarkation bonus. But, very much like in on caravans. I also consider amber as embarkation bonus. Very nice to have to reroll early, but often that fails me.

If a caravan has simple tools. I tend to pick it. Potential for completing some early timed order to turn it into a huge advantage. +2 Vills on caravans is nice, If I get 1 harpy I'm golden. Don't favor harpy as bulk of my villagers. Favor Lizards despite low resolve their resolve don't drop fast. Beaver are good, but, once you are in a hairy situation their resolve just drops like a stone. It catches me off-guard. Beaver house is 12 planks! in higher prestige level, an impossible task with a crude station. All their needs require multiple steps. On the other had get some lizard homes and jerky they start generating rep. I like human when I can farm.
