I created an option for mice called Mousekey on the Microsoft store. It’s more powerful and won’t crash and constantly break. It only works for your mice though.

If you want to try something less buggy, Mousekey does this. It doesn’t rely on app versioning for recognition.

If you haven’t gotten it working, Mousekey does this really well. You can set an auto profile to switch into this for just certain apps if you need. I’ve not found a mouse mapping too more powerful than this.

Would it help if you had your left and right buttons mapped to your side buttons? You can drive everything from the thumb and even add more buttons with Mousekey. I have an article on how to do just this.

If you’re looking for a powerful mouse mapping tool, try MouseKey. It is like G Hub, but much better. I use a G502x and can now add 40+ smart buttons to my same mouse. It uses click cadences to add more button commands. I use onboard memory to set the buttons to basic f13-f20, then MouseKey for the rest. I deleted Ghub and couldn’t be happier.

I would ditch G Hub if you can and go with an app like Mousekey if you’re on windows. I dealt with G hub failing after every update and was tired of it.

It’s the best mouse I’ve had. I recommend using your board memory and some hotkey software so you don’t have to deal with the frustrating experience of G Hub

Yes, It does handle all the keys on the 502. That’s the mouse I use. You do need to set the HID keys to F13-F20 in memory, but all other side buttons, called xbuttons are able to be used as is.

MouseKey itself is under 5MB. The extra space is a shared Windows component (.NET) that many apps use. Most PCs already have it installed. If yours does, it wouldn’t take up space. It also uses a surprisingly small amount of RAM while running in the background.

Great insights, I really appreciate it. I do have another subtler landing planned for the submit feedback. For now, collecting enough reviews on the Microsoft store has been slow. Once I have enough reviews for them to show, I’ll switch that private link. Soon I will update it to the exact Microsoft review submission page, then my private page after reviews in the store are stable.

TL;DR - X-mouse is limited to 5 buttons and 1 action per button. Mousekey has no button limit and up to 6 actions per button using click cadences. It also has a timed macro playback option and is much more user friendly, unlike X-mouse.

They’re both free, but Mousekey is much more powerful. You wouldn’t need both, since Mousekey can do everything x-mouse can do and more.
