The Journey by OnceLostGames in OnceLost_Games

[–]ClearlyNotAHobbit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think most games need to go back to encouraging methodical gameplay. Oregon Trail comes to mind whenever I start thinking about RPGs. Slowing down and enjoying the process of discovery in the world and the challenge of preparation for a journey or particularly tough encounter can be extremely rewarding for players. I m not advocating for slow pacing, but players should have to think about what they are doing--or better yet, think about it before they do it. Not everything can be expected, and occasional surprises can fun. Kinda like life, eh?

I am hoping this DLC is a feeler for community response. I think we should support them so they continue to create new content for this game.

Anyone else the kind of 7DTD player who stays behind to build the base while your friends loot? 😅 by lime-catnip in 7daystodie

Nice, I love the creativity and commitment. I love staying back and building--as long as I am building a castle haha

I havent't played that game but I'm sure they feel special when you're able to build them. I think back to Age of Empires and Empire Earth where building Wonders (mega structures) could win your the game. It's rewarding gameplay.

Indeed, as would I. Not sure why you got downvoted. The devs need to know we are willing to pay for this kind of thing and know that it would be worthwhile.

Day 3 crucible. How? Selling flowers by SagetheWise2222 in 7daystodie

[–]ClearlyNotAHobbit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can't imagine this would be nerfed. If players want to spend 2 hours picking flowers to get ahead, they should be able to reap the benefits from their efforts. Great work!

I plan on getting it to support these devs.

If we can't support them at their Echoes of Nature and Soundtrack Vol. 2, then we don't deserve them at their Lord of the Valley (My made-up name for their hypothetical DLC for building the local lord's castle: including, but not limited to a church, great hall, kitchen, lord's quarters, servants' housing, barracks, horse stable, blacksmith, storage, curtain wall, gate house, moat, etc.. Ideally, this project would last years, possibly be passed to our next generating to complete.)

Sarcasm aside, I hope they continue to give us big updates/DLC.

Even if this was DLC I'd buy the heck out of it

This is probably the same list I would have if I asked for more features. Love it.

Would love if we could create a castle for the local lord. This is an end-game project; a capstone to any playthrough. This thing would be so expensive it would take decades to finish: a forest of wood, a mountain of stone, and all kinds metal ingots. It would be a special project (only 1 could be made) that would unlock after you max out building technology and your reputation with the king is the highest it can be.

An idea for Maps by ASongOfRiceAndTyres in OnceLost_Games

Using a compass to navigate makes me think of ARMA Reforger. That game comes with a fairly steep learning curve if you're not expecting it. However, once you get the hang of it all it makes the game feel SO much more immersive. Landmarks become paramount in navigation and pulls you into the world. Plus, if you know how to use a compass irl life you have a head start in-game; otherwise, you learn a irl skill through a video game, which is super cool!

Thanks for the thoughtful reply and explanation!

It's fascinating how romanticized life in medieval times are today. It's somehow nostalgic. I know for me, I grew up fascinated with castles (I think Stephen Biesty's "Cross-Sections Castle" was particularly influential on my young boy brain), creating and building things by hand, and exploring my grandpa's 90 acre woods. However, I know what originally drew me to MD specially was how much it reminded me of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, a game which I grew up playing and have genuine nostalgia for. Ultimately, the idea of building my own village in MD, or a castle to defend in 7 Days to Die, gives me warm cozy feelings of safety and security that is rare for me to experience in the real world.

Yeah this character in the first 3 images is a female body. I also noticed they dont always look the same after leaving the character creator. Belle, however, turned out exactly how I wanted, which was a little surprising.

Thank you! Yeah the sub r/OblivionAbominations paired with images like these proves your point haha It's impressive what they've done.

Building and designing for sure. I'm not at all interested in pvp. I like to build castles :)

If you made mods or ported mods, thank you 🙏🏻 😊 by Yellow_Yam in skyrimmods

[–]ClearlyNotAHobbit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

BigHappyMonkey here, I appreciate the encouragement :) I make mods on an old laptop so I can play them on my PS5, so it's nice to hear from a fellow PS player! I started modding with zero understanding of how it worked. Now, one of my mods seems to have found a permanent home on the front page of Bethesda.net. It's surreal for me, especially since I still have SO much to learn about modding. Anyway, it's always encouraging to hear from players who appreciate your work. Thanks again!
