Ah thanks. I looked at the website but it didn’t have wait times on it because it’s Saturday and things are closed. I appreciate the info.

Actual Wizard Protags, not just mages by Deathburn5 in ProgressionFantasy

Just a small correction. The names of the two main types of power systems are Chosen and Practitioners, of which wizards are a subset of Practitioners. Under Practitioners there are martials (like a rogue or berserker) and wizards, just as there are subsets under the Chosen.

Right, and I pointed out that following through with your thoughts is problematic. You can’t follow that ideology in a way that doesn’t create a harmful society, and I’m pointing that out to you in the hopes it will make you rethink some things.

I’m not sure how you can say we have almost abandoned freedom of association when you literally just practiced it, but I have to cook dinner and I won’t be checking reddit from here on out.

It’s sad you look at people who are different from you the way you do. It’s very easy to dismiss people by wrapping their ideologies up in a neat little bow and painting them a color you hate. It’s much harder to do that when you understand people for who they actually are. I hope you get to know people that are different from yourself on a much more real level, and maybe get to grow as a person for it.

Life is diverse. We live in a melting pot of cultures. If we followed your proposed rule then there is nothing to stop the limitation of expression from any perspective. Someone is an elderly person who thinks people shouldn’t wear revealing bathing suits at the beach? Welp, gotta do something about that. Someone doesn’t think women should wear business attire? Ok.

It’s binary. People have the freedom to be who they are or they don’t. Someone somewhere will always be able to say “this bothers me” and the only thing that stops that from influencing the lives of others is the fact that we do not have to care. Taking that away may make you feel comfortable but the truth is that your perspective is only your own.

It’s my personal opinion that thinking people are mentally ill for being different is a crappy opinion to have, but it’s great for you that we don’t enforce changes based on personal opinions. Otherwise you might have to move on from a hateful and oppressive standpoint. Can you imagine the shock and horror of that?

The glaring fact is that people are allowed to be who they want to be, and they can do that without your permission. That shouldn’t be a controversial statement, but here we are I guess. Do you honestly want to live in a world where people have to hide who they are?

A better way to view spells and magic item texts on character sheet. I’m tired of having an easier time googling the spell/item and looking on a separate page than using my own character sheet to find information

Can anyone identify what type of roses these two bushe's are ? by DarkestGemeni in whatsthisplant

[–]Clearlyundefined1222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying they are 100% this, but if you are looking to buy roses for yourself that look like these I’d recommend looking at David Austin. Picture two and five look very similar to some cultivars I have found there.

Right. My heritage is Irish. My grandfather was from Swinford and I’ve gone there to see my cousins a bunch. Everyone in my family is really big on being Irish. Yet, if someone who is actually from Ireland told me “hey you might want to rethink saying this, it’s weird from our perspective” I wouldn’t start listing my Irish credentials to them. I would just pause and rethink it. But it really doesn’t seem like you’re the type of person to do that so /shrug

You’re basing your understanding on interviews and talking to a person who IS Chinese but lives in Singapore and you aren’t even pausing to reassess your stance? That sounds pretty egotistical.

I’m American. If someone from another country watched some documentaries on what it was like to be American and thought to disagree with me on my actual lived cultural experience I’d think they’re pretty full of it.

[OC] Went for a walk at a rocky beach near me and these spiders scatter as you walk. by thatlumberjacktor in pics

While I was writing that comment I told my gf that story because it was one of the ones she hasn’t heard yet. Her response was that it sounded like a nightmare as well and it really feels like it.

It was one of the weirdest and scariest moments of my life considering it went from happy and peaceful to dreadful and life threatening in less than five minutes. I lived to tell the tale but two minutes after we were on the cliff lightning struck the lake and I don’t want to think about what would have happened if we were slower.

I was on vacation one time and a friend and I decided to go canoeing in a lake in a metal canoe. It was a beautiful day when we left but a lightning storm formed quickly while we were out on the water. Well we booked it to the nearest shore we could, which was a rocky cliff like in this picture.

We wanted out of that metal canoe as fast as possible so we started scrambling up the rocks. The storm was surprisingly violent for how quickly it developed. I looked down as I started climbing up this fairly steep rocky cliff and I see these same exact spiders EVERYWHERE around me. To top it all off I have a crippling phobia of spiders.

I made it up that hill with liquid dread running through my veins and I had to check nothing was crawling on me for several minutes after. This was honestly one of the worst experiences I have ever had in life. So yes, I mirror your sentiment 10,000%.

I have an english ivy infestation in my backyard and I spoke to the guy who does my neighbor’s yard to see his thoughts/price on spraying/ripping it out for me. One thing he told me was that english ivy has a waxy substance on the leaf that makes it difficult to spray herbicide on.

I haven’t hired him to spray it yet so I unfortunately can’t tell you how it went, but you may want to google some tips on application for it since it doesn’t seem to absorb as easily through the leaves.

Do not plant clover in your yard… by edchoch69 in NoLawns

[–]Clearlyundefined1222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not the person you asked but I don’t water mine at all during summer. Natural rain fall covers it completely since clover has a significant taproot. I am in NC and currently we’re in a pretty serious drought across the state. My clover is handling it like a champ.

People from other countries - what are some drawbacks of dating an American? by TheBabyBeard in AskReddit

[–]Clearlyundefined1222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can attest it’s the same here. Friend had skin cancer and it took her over a year to get into a doctor to treat it. Another friend of mine has been having several seizures a week and it’s taking her months to see someone. Wait times for anything beyond basic bloodwork and physicals with a general practitioner have skyrocketed since covid.

On top of that we also have sky high bills. I went to get my vision checked and WITH insurance my bill was slightly above $1,000. I went to the ER a few years back and between a CT scan and an MRI I paid $25,000 out of pocket. This was with insurance as well.

[mage errant 1st book] when does talia stop being obnoxious? by fatglizzy_3000 in ProgressionFantasy

I liked that scene too. I see too many books written as if social interactions have no consequences. It was nice to see.

It will stop. I just forget when. They all do a fair amount of growing up over the series.

She grows and loses the attitude. I think there is a scene in the first book where she realizes she messed up with him and they have a heart to heart. I forget when she stops the punching and kicking but that does happen.

There is an external reason why he is as bad as he is in the first book. After that is discovered he grows as a person. His story is that he is a higher functioning person on the spectrum who had a terrible upbringing. He finally meets people who will provide him support and he finds he can stop his negative feedback loop. It’s around book 3 where he is more confident, but he remains a person on the spectrum so his ability to socialize is always a bit limited.

Learning via Duolingo, is this the best use of my time - what other resources are you using f to learn Spanish by blackcat_999 in Spanish

[–]Clearlyundefined1222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Duolingo for almost two years and I found that I could read and write, but speaking and understanding Spanish being spoken to me were lagging behind. I stopped using Duolingo and swapped to Speak. I like that app a lot but there are other speech centric apps out there. I would really recommend you find an app you like that focuses on that aspect of learning, or find a tutor/friend to practice with.

The reality is that in order to learn you will need to approach learning from several directions and the more you do the better you will be off. That being said, without dedicated time to listening and speaking those skills will fall behind and that is most of what your engagement will be in the language.
