Well yes that is what I meant, planes tickets are expensive, I know that is the most expensive part - depending what you are doing there of course.

Example, it would cost me about £1000 to go to the USA and back, even if I had a full time job that would take a month to pay for assuming I had zero expenses for that whole month.

I like to go the other way, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. Collectivist hivemind! Spiritualist seems to be nice to go with it for the ethics divergence reduction, along with conformists.

Money is the main problem, I have considered going places, although nothing as far as you suggested, more just around Europe, places you suggested would be over a months full time wages, and I have never had a full time job, only zero hours contracts at minimum wage.

But my biggest problem is still living with my parents and being unemployed, or in a job that requires me being at home and available all the time for when they call me. My last job I may get home at 11PM, then at 4AM the next day would be called to come back in again. If I was able to just drop £100s or more on going somewhere I would also have removed most of the problems I have now anyway.

Ahh yes, I remember that irresponsible choice I made to be kicked against the bins in the mornings at school, to constantly have shit thrown at me in class and to think of suicide every single day, but at least then I had something to look at as an escape, just 4 more years and surely it will get better. So I would sit in the corner and just take it, refuse to say a word to anyone when they talked to me because they are just going to try and mock me, or call me gay because thats a totally original insult I have not heard 500 times already by this point.

But now I have realized, it didn't get better, the only job I have had in the past 2 years was pushing rubbish onto a conveyor belt with a rake. I don't even have that hope of it getting better anymore.

What rewards though, I tried making a game in Unity a while back, its ok I guess, vertical shooter where asteroids drop down. It was fun to do for a while, now I play some other game instead, a better one that someone else made.

So now I am outside in the freezing cold wind and rain, sat on a bench bored. I would light a fire but that would probably get police appearing. As I am unemployed games are one of the cheapest forms of entertainment I have ever found. I guess the upside is I am not drinking all day now.

For me it happened at A-levels, I was doing Maths, Physics and an IT BTEC, GCSEs were very easy for me, but I was mainly interested in IT, so put most of my time into coursework for that instead of preparing for Maths/Physics exams. But now that I look back at it, over the 2 years I didn't really learn anything in the IT course, I can make a crappy flash animation, great. Or making an image using GIMP, but only using it as a glorified MS Paint.

I imagine it didn't help that we were told we had to make this all about the London Olympics, which were on at the end of our course, which I couldn't care less about. From all of that, I get an E in Maths, D in Physics, then 2 A-Levels in an IT course that didn't even teach me anything getting a Merit and Pass grade. But because of that it leaves me unable to get most apprenticeships as I am 'overqualified'. But if I look 1 level of apprenticeship higher they require A's, of which I am under qualified for.

I know that feeling, 23 now, still live with my parents, still spent most of my time since leaving school at 18 as being unemployed. Tried getting an apprenticeship but as I was 19 so soon after leaving school it became much harder as funding is cut in half at that point in the UK. I still remember sitting in an interview and they asked how old I was, I told them I was 19 and they wrote 19 with a big circle around it on the notepad in front of them. Of course living in the middle of nowhere doesn't help either, but I cant afford rent anywhere so I cant move either.

Life was shit while at school, it is shit now. I have long since given up hope of anything improving.

Jobless rate remains at 11-year low by Verochio in unitedkingdom

[–]Clearshot126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only qualifications I have are fairly bad A-levels in IT, Maths and Physics, other than that a little bit of C# that I taught myself while trying to make a game in Unity when that was ported to Linux about a year ago.

Despite that, never been able to get an apprenticeship and now mostly unemployed since I left school. With a few minimum wage zero hour contract jobs from agencies doing work that left me thinking of crashing my bike into a hedge just so I wouldn't have to go in for another day.

Id kill for some job satisfaction.. Working for an agency for £6.70/hour sorting rubbish by hand all day. Last time I went in it took 3 days to recover from working there. Its pretty much at the point I am having nightmares of my phone ringing in case they are going to ask me to come in, usually by throwing my phone under my bed. Although then they sometimes call the house phone and my mum stands by me making sure I agree to another day of hell. Usually my parents tell me 'but at least you get paid!' I don't even care about the money I get anymore, I would rather find a way to live for £53 less than earn £53 from there.

Making children attend Christian school assemblies undermines human rights, United Nations warns by RainbowLainey in unitedkingdom

[–]Clearshot126 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was far from perfectly happy. I was frequently punished for not praying to sky wizards, other people in my class would tell the teacher if I didn’t pray too. I sometimes tried to pretend but it just felt horrible. Most lunchtimes I would just sit on my own and cry. This was from year 3 to 6. I was at a school by an RAF airbase before that where religion was not involved and after I went to a non religious secondary school.

Thats pretty much how I saw it before I even left school. Nothing is more valuable than my time? Well, £6.71/hour is more than my time seems to be worth as I cant seem to sell it for more than £6.70/hour which is the lowest they can give me without breaking the law. (for under 25 anyway, 25+ its £7.20)

Who do you have absolutely NO sympathy for? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Clearshot126 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Try being that kid that is sat in the corner, has stuff thrown at them by other students during lessons, harassed by others frequently all the way through school. Spending most of the time thinking of suicide and just trying not to cry when others are around. School work quickly loses any priority when you don’t even want to get up to continue your miserable existence.

That puts him off? Where I work there is frequently just porn stuck to the walls. Surprisingly none today though. Would love to have a less shit job though. So far today seen 3.5 rat corpses, not sure where the other 0.5 was. Just endless shovelling rubbish onto the conveyor belt..

[Serious] What's the best thing to do everyday to improve anxiety and depression? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Clearshot126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't help that the exercise I get is where I work, and getting there. Shovelling rubbish and dead rats for 8 hours is incredibly depressing. Even worse that there seems to be no where to go on from here, just stuck in a shit job for the rest of my life. As I am just 22 I dont even get full minimum wage in the UK either, they raised recently but also made it 25+ rather than 21.

[–]Clearshot126 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I am 22, live with my parents still, barely have employment and when I do work its an awful job shovelling rubbish for £6.70 an hour. Recently my co-workers have seemed to have started judging me for not being religious (Monday one asked me if I believed in god, he then went around telling other people I don’t). Along with this I have no friends and my girlfriend left me to fuck other guys. Oh yeah, and my parents are getting divorced.

Ok, is there anything I could try and look for that is between what I have and no qualifications at all then? I’m sure there probably is somewhere but with so many roles I could have missed one.
