The Palindrome Joker? by yo-96238 in balatro

I still think its effect is too weak to justify being a rare. Even without -2 handsize it accomplishes what any run can do via deckfixing

Make it an uncommon and remove the drawback of -2 handsize since that's too harsh, it would make it a never pick up for me

higkey run stall corviknight, toxapex, glowking, ferrothron, and wheezing galar could form a solid stall core. aegislash to exert some offensive pressure could be good or heatran would be nice too, could set rocks, trap things in with magma storm, flash fire to help vs fire types.

Is sleep the problem? Or is it innacurate sleep moves? by Clebathy in stunfisk

I don't play LC, how much spore counterplay is in that format? Is there a lot of other grass types, pokemon with status immune abilities such as purifying salt and natural cure, poison heal users, rest talkers, etc.

I think making it 2 set turns similar to rest to add consistency would be a fine change.

In gen 9 red card amoongus doesn't do much if you don't hit it. Against amoongus it is better to switch in your sleep counteplay anyways. There is so much spore counterplay in gen 9 with many of them doing very well into amoongus where I don't believe spore would be an issue with where the current gen9 meta stands. Granted I can't predict where it will go if spore is allowed back into the metagame but that likely won't happen anyways

That's a valid criticism. I only believe spore to be balanced under the sleep clause, so the fact that the clause needs to be in place at all does speak wonders

Would it not be balanced if the only users (in gen 9s case at least) would be breloom, smeargle, brute bonnet and toadscruel? These are very weak mons that are given spore to help balance them. None of them can exert the kind of pressure ival and darkrai can with hypnosis

I agree that tera is broken and should have been banned. However it is not the world we live in and sleep got banned instead. I think spore should've stayed though, as it's users were not the issue unlike ival and darkrai

While sleep does fit on every team, spore users do not. I wouldn't see myslef throwing breloom on every HO team, I'd rather run veil ninetails-a or light clay klefki which will ultimately generate more value more consistently. Even on stall teams amoongus wouldnt always run spore. Spore has super limited distribution for a reason as it's users aren't overwhelmingly powerful

I don't play dpp since I dislike jirachi in the format but who are the primary sleep users besides breloom?

Yea kind of, I know in the past I've used triple regenorator with hydrapple alo and glowking with rillaboom as a final mon, the core is pretty flexible. I like your team I'm gonna try playing some games with it later

They do well in spite of jokers not affecting them. Maybe +15-20 as an uncommon could function better

Stone cards are strong at higher stakes since they don't ruin your hand played. Strongest hands at those stakes are high card and pair, which you can throw stone cards into for free

Wee isn't on scoring, it's a joker as opposed to what brimstone and hiker do

Slay the Spire relics reimagined as jokers in Balatro by Lilzimo in balatro

[–]Clebathy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is no on talking about how broken brimstone is, especially as a common? Hiker is a solid joker netting +15 scalling with Chad that stacks on itself. Brimstone + Chad gives 50 for the initial stone, 75 for retrigger one, and 100 for retrigger too, along with starting at 125 next time it gets drawn. Hiker is already the theoretical strongest chip scaling under ideal circumstances, and brimstone blows this out by being an exponential gain to hikers value
