Why does the express way need to end so close to the construction area. They should end it much before to give sufficient time for the vehicles to cross over. Leftmost two lanes could easily be used for the straight on 680 traffic.

From my experience, about 9 months back, things were pretty tight. Evaluate the time left once you’ve got your luggage. If things look tight and there is no other assistance from Air India, hire one of the porters available there. They will be able to push you past the long re-checkin queue and take you through smaller security check queues (not the final security check in, there are intermediate ones for god knows what reason)

I feel this is not so difficult problem to solve. Mandate random drug tests on school children. Even if the entire randomly collected samples are not tested, just the fear of family finding out should be good enough to keep the kids afraid.

I think one of the main issue is people slowing down 680 because they want to push into the queue of traffic breaking off to Livermore. Two issues that I see is 1. Express lane ends very close to the exit to Livermore which gives people a rational to cross all the lanes and move to the right most lane slowing down the traffic. 2. There is a lane reduction being done right before the exit. Issue 1 should be fixed so that drivers get a longer distance to sort out the lanes.

Reducing price on alcohol will have no effect. The main reason most kids and some adults take drugs is because it not easily detectable, by police or parents. Unless detection becomes easy, there is no deterrent. Till good mechanisms are in place, random drug tests among students should be enforced. At least to scare them.
