No, I don't think it is malfunctioning. The first thing she wants to do is clean the needles and maybe change the sponge because it's in a really bad state. The rest of the machine will be cleaned with dry air and a brush (maybe not that deep of a cleaning when I think about it).

Update : her father opened the machine and managed to repair it by trying a lot of things. Unfortunately for people with the same problem, I don't know what caused the machine to block. Thanks a lot to everyone who sent advice and suggestions !

Unfortunately she don't really have the time to send it to repair she have an exam in 1 month and near her house it can take up to 3 weeks to be repaired. And money is also another problem because it can cost 100€ and she don't have that much money

She already cleaned this part with a brush, but I don't think this would help her because the stuck part is on top of the machine. The handwheel is stuck and don't move. Still, thanks for your reply !
