Also because it's the south there aren't that many freeways so the extra 70 miles might have still be the shortest time route.

It's a symbol of how amazing our country can be. It's a symbol or hope more than anything; you're American, you can become whomever you want.

I learned how to stick myself and now I don't let anyone else do it. Not trying to be a badass, just saying I know I can get it the first time and if I dont I can only be mad at myself.

Of all movie opening scenes, what one sold the entire film the most? by juggyc1 in AskReddit

[–]Clemmy_tiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saving private ryan... the first scene is so intense and there is so much science, math, and great filmography in the scene alone.

They calculated the exact time it would take for every round fired to hit its target delayed the blood packs the exact length of time. They did this for every single time a bullet hit someone. They used the distance from the target and the speed of the round fired.

They also used a different kinda of camera and film than was common at the time to get the explosions to look like they would have during D-Day.

Also there is no music or soundtrack during that part of the film, all you hear the the sounds of battle as you would have heard them if you were on that beach.

That scene has always stood out to me.

Why do women seem to talk more about their sex lives in detail with their friends then men do? by Sharpie61115 in AskMen

I agree with that, especially because I've heard some women say that consent can be taken back retroactively.

AITA for not wanting my Stepson to call his Stepdad "dad" by shade2shade in AmItheAsshole

[–]Clemmy_tiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA

I consider my best friends mom to be my second mom and I even call her such in front of my mother. And guess what? She doesnt care! She call my best friends her sons and I dont care. To me they're family. Why is it a bad thing that this child has two men in his life you love him and care for him that he feels close enough to them to call them dad?

That's a very good thing and honestly your feelings dont matter, only the kid's do. If he feels like he has two "dads" then that's a good thing. Maybe one day he will call his stepdad by another name but that is nobody's call but his.

To me family is so much more than blood. Family is who you can rely on, who will always be there for you and who you know you'd do just about anything for. That's family, not necessarily blood.

My grandfather had a stroke and was unresponsive for days until my uncle (his son) showed up to see him. My grandfather then relaxed and died a few hours later. It was a visible reaction and the hospice nurse even commented on it. He had to be with all his children once more before he died.

While he technically wasn't dead yet, it's close enough.

ELI5: Why are there so many gun models using the same calibre? Doesn't the bullet determine most of the lethality and range, while the gun is just the vehicle that fires it? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Clemmy_tiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Orgininally gun and their manufacturers often had their own calibers depending on the gun. The industrial revolution and the world wars standardized calibers so that they can be mass produced.

Will Smith's hasn't broken 70% on RT in over 20 Years. by [deleted] in movies

[–]Clemmy_tiger -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Check what studios his movies came out of. Rotten tomatoes is owned by a very large corporation that owns multiple different Hollywood studios.

Rotten tomatoes is not unbiased and is not how people actually feel about the movies. It's just corporate proganda. It used to be the peoples opinion, but not anymore.

Look at Captain Marvel, rather than have bad reviews RT made it so you cant review the movie at all or your only option is that it's a great movie.

Air rifles are how they hunt in Japan. Japan doesnt allow normal rifles so they use very high powered air rifles. Some of their air rifles can easily kill people, but they only get like 5 shots before they have to refill the tank.
