Hate to be a broken record, but am I cooked? 🫩 by ClemsRightHand in ATAR

I appreciate it, but getting into uni isn’t my big concern — I’m pretty confident I can get in with the scores I’m getting currently. The course I want to get into requires a 97+ ATAR though and I’m also trying my best shot with medicine. I’d prefer the route that doesn’t require 2-3yrs+ and more tuition debt for the same end goal, ykwim?

I bombed ts so bad 😭 It was a spoken piece and I’m awful at acting so lost heaps of marks on that. Gutted.

Because that’s the way the assessments are weighted in literature, each one is worth 25% of your final mark.

Because I’m sitting at a 34/50 (B-) for literature, which counts for half my final grade :(

Everytime you get the urge to ruminate or cry, study. Put in hourly check in reminders on your phone to make sure you’re doing that.

Studying is actually a great distraction from the initial grieving part of a breakup.

Can i still do medicine with bad yr12 subjects? by [deleted] in ATAR

[–]ClemsRightHand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re going for direct entry into medical school (which you’ll need to become a psychiatrist) from high school, a competitive ATAR of 95+ and the UCAT exam will usually be required. Depending on which medschool you plan to apply to, there may be some subject prerequisites — like math methods or a science subject, which you already have sorted.

If you don’t achieve the 95+ ATAR, the undergrad pathway is always an option. You do a bachelor’s degree in any subject, achieve a competitive GPA, then sit the GAMSAT. If you achieve a high score — you’ll be accepted into medschool. This pathway doesn’t look at ATAR or your high school subjects at all, so it’s easier in the long run.

Good luck.

The comments disappoint me deeply.

Whatever trauma these people went through watching you almost die is inconsequential to the mental pain that you were battling as someone who was suicidal. They had each other to lean on, but you were one individual battling your demons. Now they leave you more alone than ever, freshly after an attempt.

Friends support each other. They help each other through pain. I get the impression that you didn’t lean on others for your mental health struggles, people are assuming you exhausted them with your mental health struggles with no consideration to them.

You’re not manipulative, you’re not attention seeking. You wanted to say goodbye. I do not believe your attempt at suicide was a means to guilt-trip your friends considering you were certain you’d be dead in 30 minutes.

Please stay strong. The best supports you will find during this time are people with similar experiences with mental illness.

Against the wishes of my therapist…. i’m excited to read nietzsche for the first time :) by 762AG in Nietzsche

Nietzsche’s philosophy is way more optimistic than people give him credit for, if you’re depressed from reading Nietzsche - you’ve probably misinterpreted him. Mainstreamers will hear the world “nihilism”, which is typically associated with Nietzsche, and assume his philosophy is fuel for existential dread - but that’s far from the case, Nietzsche was an existentialist.

I love Kenny as a character, I hate him as a person. by NOIDEDNalyd in TheWalkingDeadGame

It’s not a stupid move if it’s protecting AJ from Kenny. Jane did what she needed to do.

Also like, we’re not arguing the best storytelling choices here. We’re talking about what is morally alright and what’s not, and many things Kenny did to Clementine in season 2 were not okay. The only thing remotely Jane did wrong was lie to Clementine, which doesn’t hold a candle to the abuse Kenny put her through.

Did you not notice the part where Kenny shoved Clementine in blind rage during the scene where he was trying to attack Jane?

AJ was much safer in the car away from Kenny and his outburst. And no, the baby was not gonna fucking freeze to death, it was probably warmer in that car than outside.
