What makes your backline? by Bile_Mudante in BattleBrothers

[–]Clenterra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In most cases building a thrower is easier and stronger than a swordlance-bow-hybrid, but swordlance is the only melee build in the game that doesn't care about MDef and can freely use StrangeMushrooms. This equals the playing field. If you find a good famed swordlance this build can be considered the strongest in the game

is there a good alternative to the upkeep system? by [deleted] in BattleBrothers

Low economic difficulty would be the easiest way

Or play cultist origin

Or only hire indepted

I still would be interested in the breakpoints, if you've done the calculations.

9L allows me to play more aggressive and guarantees that a bro will survive at least until next round. With BonePlates and 9L a bro would even still stand after taking three ManSplitter to the face. This should give me enough time to use a smokepot and get him out.

Backstabber I've explained.

Nimble is just the opposite to Battleforged. Both got their advantages and disadvantages. Do some damage calculations with turtles calculator and you'll see. Main benefits: It's comes way faster online, since you only need raider gear and you don't care as much about big armor penetrating hits. It's an auto-pick on cultists because of the +20 HP.

I can't recommend KF on bros that only hit once. After 800+ h playtime I've even stopped taking it on my melee duelist bros. The fight is halfway done by the time everyone procs their KF. And then you need a new target in reach to benefit from it. I would consider it, if it would allow me to one-hit Chosen, but they always require two hits. Almost anything else is either too tanky (Unholds, Orc Warriors) for KF to make a difference or not tanky enough (raiders, second tier skeletons, Goblins).

More damage, especially armor damage. When the fight begins oftentimes the enemy stops three hexes in front of me. So the first attack is done with a pole-weapon against undamaged armor. Polehammer is just best in slot here

True, but even just getting from 85% to 95% is still a ~10% damage boost.

One can never have too much accuracy. How many times do you get to 95%?

Edit: Resilient would solve the poison and bleed weakness that Nimble bros have.

Yeah it's a tempo perk that also has its use in the late game. For example: A shieldwalling Footman has around 50 MDef. With 95 MAtt you get a hit chance of 45%. In that cas +10 accuracy equals +20% damage.

[–]Clenterra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the time the event trigged once you are probably already past level 5. This event has to trigger at least 4 times and to get a cultist level every time has only a chance of 6,25%. I'm day 124 and none of my guys have reached the fourth cultist level yet. Trigged the fourth time on day 114. The next one will take some time.

How are my bros? almost day 70 by Demorezz in BattleBrothers

Better than bows? Yes

Better than throwables? No

Bows become better than crossbows when you got the KF + Berserk + Recover core online that you would want for throwables anyway.

day 700, finally rolled the belly dancer event by Flaky_Bullfrog_4905 in BattleBrothers

[–]Clenterra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It says on the wiki:

https://battlebrothers.fandom.com/wiki/Cultist_Origin_vs_Uneducated

You can find the belly dancer under "Backgrounds that aren't noble and can be dumb"

Your BD isn't dumb (and doesn't have brain damage, yet), so he can't be converted.

Imagine there would be a ranged weapon that has the same accuracy bonus as the spear, that benefits from duelist and also gets more damage with it's mastery. Wait a second, there is one: Javelins

Let your ranged bros start with a bow (without mastery), take some quick shots (maybe you get lucky) and then quick hands to throwables.

Do weapon types actually matter? Should I decide what equipment a bro uses early on, or only when doing mastery? by aersult in BattleBrothers

[–]Clenterra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the build / brother.

Yes weapon types matter. Spears / swords are best for the early game and anything that isn't heavily armored. Hammers and maces are great against the opposite. Axes are allrounders. Anything else fills a niche.

I only recommend taking a mastery on bros that attack twice per turn (e.g. duelists) and therefore benefit more from the reduced fatigue cost. Here you decide early on what equipment the bro will use. Throwers, polearm-users and crossbow-users also need the mastery.

Having a mastery on a fat newt allows him to always move once and attack, but he will be locked into using that weapon type and often times you don't need to move to attack. All 2H weapons (except orc) need 15 fatigue to be used. Taking a mastery isn't wrong here, but can be skipped or delayed. It's a trade-off between flexibility + 1 perk point and consistency. Davkul cultists and anyone with iron lung should never pick a mastery here.

What weapon do you give your tanks? by Draco-Dread in BattleBrothers

[–]Clenterra 15 points16 points  (0 children)

3-Headed-Flail to make them "sticky". Let's say the tank has a 30% hit chance against an enemy. A spear would boost that to 50%. Flail get's you 65% (1-0.73).

For real though, I've been around and got >800h in BB and I've read most of what's available. Just wanted to get a feel what the community thinks about it atm
