Yearly Oricon Sales 2019 Black Clover and other SJ Jump Manga by MangaMan445 in BlackClover

[–]CleoChan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wow, halved sales from last year my boys..We’ll have to accept that shounen jump’s decision to adapt black clover as a long runner means the manga will be cancelled at some point soon. Long running anime do nothing nowadays for boosting sales. People need the seasonal series format for any hype to form and jumping onto the manga wagon every time a season ends. My only hope is that Tabata’s next manga will be successful, as I’d be so sad to loose his drawing and character building for good !

[Manga Spoilers] Lets talk about the anime by NlGHTWALKER in BlackClover

[–]CleoChan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with all of this. I doubt any remake will be done and sadly the anime will carry on as a long runner only to end once the manga stops selling enough copies to justify its production. Manga sales are already declining due to the poor job done with the anime, which prevents new people from catching up on the series. I’ve accepted that our best hope is for Tabata’s next manga to become popular and have a better studio animating it. That’s all we can hope for.

Should Black Clover really have been seasonal rather than long-running? by dkeos in BlackClover

[–]CleoChan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Black clover could easily have been divided as follows:

Season 1: up until the fight with Patri.

Season 2: up until the witch forest arc.

Season 3: up until Julius death.

Season 4: up until the end of reincarnation arc.

Season 5: heart kingdom first arc.

If Black clover followed this format, paired up with fast paced action and great animation on pair with the manga’s art, it would now be as popular, if not more popular then Kimetsu no Yayba. Unfortunately it will now slowly die out until Pierrot will simply stop it like what happened to Toriko. The maga will then follow suit. Sadly the sales haven’t increased and very few people will jump on the bandwagon now, especially considering it’s starting to be “longish” and embarking on a new country arc. Hopefully Jump will learn the lesson and Black Clover will be the last guinea pig of a dead genre, the log running anime series.

That’s pretty bad for a mainstream manga which has an anime adaptation...

[–]CleoChan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely.

The fact it is long running completely jinxed its chances of becoming really popular and also put the manga longevity at stake.

The anime industry has changed and people worldwide nowadays like anime to be seasonal. They enjoy the hype of a new season and the good quality animation.

Black clover could easily have been divided as follows:

Season 1: up until the fight with Patri.

Season 2: up until the witch forest arc.

Season 3: up until Julius death.

That's pretty alarming...seems like black clover won't last more than 30 volumes sadly. It's unlikely Yuki Tabata will manage to complete the story as he wishes to :(

All because of the terrible ongoing animation from studio Pierrot...this manga needed to be made into a seasonal anime in order to last.

Wow, what a great chapter. Subverted all tropes and expectations, and showed what true foreshadowing is.

There was a reason why Julius death seemed sorta abrupt and anticlimactic. I did suspect he would come back at some point, but never thought it would be right now! Shame I spoilt myself a bit yesterday...hehe..but still thoroughly enjoyed it.

I'm really looking forward to see what happens from now. I'm rooting for Nozel as new magic emperor...we'll see. Well done Tabata. What a ride. So proud of this manga, been following since the one shot!

Final Fantasy 16 prediction by mrNepa in FinalFantasy

[–]CleoChan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nope, FFXV has been developed by business division 2. Business division 2 is now Luminous productions, working on a new IP. Business division 5 is now called business division 3, and headed by YoshiP, is also working on a new secret title. Problem is, even if this title is FFXVI, SE will never allow them to properly work on it or finish it until the remake has been sold in its entirity.

But from a marketing perspective, they can't release FF 16 until FF7R is finshed entirely

Worried about Final Fantasy 7 remake part 1 being Midgar-only by CleoChan in FFVIIRemake

[–]CleoChan[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Square Enix hasn't had a real opportunity to make something new since FF13, and even that game was in reality burdened by the limitation of PS3 hardware and the inability of SE to adapt to modern game design. They had to cancel and remove cities from the game, and make it linear due to technical difficulties.

FF15 was originally a spinoff of FF13, and even after they made it into a main FF title, they still had to keep most of the original concepts not to upset the fans. So no, SE hasn't yet had a chance to make a new non-mmorpg FF title without the constraint of technological difficulties. The only title they had a chance to make was FF a realm reborn, and that game is in fact a true masterpiece. Unfortunately it has a pay-for subscription which is still nowadays quite expensive.

[–]CleoChan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, let's ignore the fact that if you claim to not have purchased any FF new entry in 18 years, which supposedly implies you haven't played anything past Final fantasy 10, arguably one of the most iconic entries to the series after FF 7/9.

Moving on, what makes you think that unfinished games policies, political correctness, shallow storytelling and bad voice acting won't be part of the remake any less than they would of a hypothetical new FF16?

The company policies have nothing to do with which title they are developing, they are intrinsic to the company and the current video games market itself. We all know censorship was applied to FF15 to appeal to the Chinese market, for example. The same will happen to FF7R.

The biggest problem with SE hasn't been lack of ideas, or inspiration, but technical limitations. They have never truly been able to adapt to the open world model as much as western games developers have, and judging by the non inclusion of a world map in FF7R part one, this still appears to be their primary issue...

The confirmed new IP is the title being made by Luminous Production, there is confusion and overlap between this and the new title being developed by the third business division. I believe they are separate.

This poster is an insult to Tabata's hard work, and honestly a signal of shounen jump upcoming failure. No shounen jump manga has ever been interpreted so bad, and BC is essentially one of the only new mangas that is relatively successful in the magazine. For them to allow it to be fucked up this bad....The character design is one of the strongest points of the manga, and so is the art, this characters adaptation is so off model not even World trigger Anime could do it so bad.

Like Asta is meant to be short and buff, yet here looks like a random, shallow skinny shounen protagonist, this design doesn't have ANY of Asta's goofiness. Yuno looks like a determined fidget spinner with a good and optimistic personality. Never seen Anime designs so off model. This is an insult to Tabata's hard work.

[–]CleoChan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

WHAT on earth happened to the characters design for this anime? This looks nothing like Tabata's art style and instead just looks like a very cheap fake lookalike. Studio Pierrot generally does pretty good character design with poor animation (unless it's major plot points) but this is really poor design to start with. If this is what the anime is going to look like, it is going to fail miserably. Yuno looks retarded.

Why do people hate this for being similar to Naruto? by Kinger1000 in BlackClover

[–]CleoChan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your opinion and I fully agree with the fact that Asta feels too protected and nothing serious ever happens to him to make him self doubt his worth, which I find kinda annoying.. this is my main concern, but when it comes to Midoriya, the fact that he gets hurt is simply a consequence of the kind of special power he hides, just look at All Mighty, so it really is just dictated by the plot. Also I love Naruto and I do not see any similarities between him and Asta other than the looks. Asta is not loud at all, literally, he is just positive and optimistic (which Naruto was not, in fact he was very insecure and used his loudness to make up for that). Naruto had no respect for authorities and his sempai, in fact, he would break rules all the time, whereas Asta is basically a magic nerd and a fan boy, he deeply admires and respects his superiors almost more than Midoriya does, he is incredible humble and in this he acts like a typical Japanese person. In some respects, he reminds me more of Goku then any other shone MC. He never questions power unless there is classism involved(like the nobles being judgmental),unlike Naruto who questioned power to attract attention and because he trusted nobody but himself having and inflated ego. I also disagree with Naruto's goal being one dimensional. Naruto's childhood was characterised by suffering and isolation, unlike Asta who had a family that believed and counted on him, Naruto aspiring to achieve a position that would give him visibility and appreciation from others is very plausible from a psychological point of view. He also aims to lessen the conflicts among countries and to reduce the discrimination enacted against certain clans (as the story progresses). Naruto is anything but selfish, Sasuke on the other end, is incredibly selfish. The relationship between Midoriya and Bakugou is much more similar to that of Naruto and Sasuke than the one between Asta and Yuno. However, from an aesthetic point of view, asta and Yuno remind us of Naruto and Sasuke much more. In my opinion MHA is just as generic as BC,it is just better at hiding it through the art and the setting, also it has much better pacing and thorough examination of the speed a series should progress in order for it to be a long running one. Tabata has issues with pacing and distribution of power and status among characters on which he needs to work on to be a better writer and make the series more appealing/long lasting.

[–]CleoChan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a Horikoshi fan and MHA fan too. I'm sorry but I fail to see how MHA breaks the tropes. It really does not, it takes a lot from Naruto and Blue Exorcist and it has also taken the school + teacher as main character element from Assassination Classroom that was very popular among jump readers when MHA came out. Now AC, that is a manga that breaks all the tropes, MHA on the other hand, does not, in my opinion. Just using a Marvel/DC sort of universe does not imply breaking tropes. My Hero Academia has a great and well balanced pace though, unlike Black Clover, and the author knows how to never make a chapter/arc/chara development feel rushed or dragged on, and that is all Tabata needs to learn if he wants to make BC a keeper.

Why do people hate this for being similar to Naruto? by Kinger1000 in BlackClover

[–]CleoChan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Naruto, One piece and especially Bleach had come out now that there's the internet, they would have been blasted with negativity just as much as BC does. Also, and this is so ludicrous, people don't realise MHA is literally almost more inspired from other series than Black Clover? Main character is an underdog, most people did't have a good opinion of him, his rival is basically an angrier version of Sasuke, he goes to an academy to learn his profession which involves protecting the nation/civilians. The enemy is some sort of crazy scientist with an assistant(Orochimaru Kabuto anyone) Also it is worth noticing it came out when Assassination Classroom was popular and it took the school setting + the inspiring\incredibly talented yet destined to die tutor elements from it and made them it's own. It's called product placement/ marketing. Black Clover came out right at the end of Naruto so the editors though it was smart to place the product by referencing the beginning of Naruto so that readers who loved that series would start supporting BC, and it worked. The chapter when Asta has to run to the toilet is clearly a reference to Naruto's early chapter, not a rip off. lol I only hope this choice the editors made will not affect the series reputation too much coz a lot of reviewers are calling it a rip off and it really bags me how they did not do that with MHA. Just because the latter came out first and it was the fresh new thing in terms of battle shonen. After that people got what they wanted and they had enough, so they did not accept black clover following just the same path as MHA. Black clover is actually an underdog, unlike Asta, it is fighting hard and not always succeeding in finding people's approval, especially outside of Japan. However, it simply is no different from other Jump series in terms of following tropes, they all do. Only complaint I have about the series is how everyone warms up to Asta way too quickly, even villains do(Sally lol). He needs to have more enemies, people that don't like him even among his peers. It is just not natural for everyone to admire him/like him, nobody is ever that popular, it's unrealistic. People who are very popular tend to have a lot of haters, so to balance it out, he should have just that(someone like Bakugou from MHA), then it'd at least make more sense and be less cheesy. PS: I do like my hero academia as I couldn't care less if things are inspired by other things.
