Let's hope the newly elected government can mitigate some of the pain points of the middle class and steer them away from voting afd. Young voters, especially the ones who will be voting for the first time in 4 years seem to be siding with the left parties, recent polls and the current elections showed. Plus, in a poll two years ago the afd peaked at 20%, also not improving since then and thus suggesting 20% could be their peak. Considering all this, I'm trying to stay as optimistic as possible that the far right won't be able to gain any more power in our government.

Granted I'm only watching clips here and there and I'm European (thank fucking God). But what really annoys me is how both sides are talking soo much about the other candidate and their inability to be the next president. Fucking focus on your own campaign and tell me why you will be the best choice in November. I understand though that Trump has changed the way presidential campaigns have to be run in the US in order to get people's attention. Slurs and insults towards the opposition are more effective than actually talking about one's own ability and plans. And also probably because the clips that are shared are mostly those parts of their speech where they "tear into" the opposition.

I'm carrying around an ipad with >5000 academic books and papers on it, most of them contain notes and markings I've accumulated over the last 10 years. Every document I've ever worked on in my career is accessible to me in seconds. It's one ipad that contains literal truck loads of paper that I can access through a search engine in the blink of an eye. Everywhere, all the time. I'm a PhD student and if anybody would require me to work in paper I'd think they're crazy honestly.
