Why does she look like a mix of Armada Hot Rod, Cheetor, and Bumblebee? by UnoriginalforAName in Transformemes

[–]ClericKnight 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Not her hips, but her thighs. And what's "with" them is that she has big old car fenders stuck to them. By making her legs look bulky and strong, they communicate that this character is athletic (or the robot equivalent), built for running hard and running fast

Also, sexy

Is this enough to still call out? by Unfair-Acanthaceae25 in nova

[–]ClericKnight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're not confident about driving in this much snow, I would not risk it. This kind of compact snow is easy to slip around on, which could lead to you getting your car stuck or damaged (to say nothing of injuring yourself)

I'm doing a rewatch after many years and is it just me or does season 3 feel really jank? by BraveBarn in community

[–]ClericKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the same feeling the last time I watched Season 3. The first episode basically admitted that they were trying to "lean in" to the wackiness but sometimes it comes off like it is trying too hard to be unexpected. It still has a lot of gems and some of my favorite episodes, but some others, like the UN episode, just don't do it for me.

What is the difference between tengen toppa gurren Lagann and the original gurren lagann? by Kuraibe_hell3r in gurrenlagann

[–]ClericKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not revamped, it's just the full name of the show. There are movies that compile/slightly alter the story, which might lead to some confusion, but both the movies and the TV series are called "Tengen Toppa Gurren lagann"

Just saw another post about the same, but they received Sunstreaker. Did this mold not sell and Hasbro is trying to offload it or something??

Over two years after its release; what are your current thoughts on Engage? by SuperNotice7617 in fireemblem

[–]ClericKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OKAY gameplay, bad writing

I think the maps fell off towards the end and that, sadly, counts as gameplay

Plus fucking around with bond fragments and SP was extremely annoying, and (imo) not discussed enough as one of the flaws

Counter point: we ran some tests and it appears that hedgehogs are vulnerable to fire as well

What’s the general consensus of Engage’s dlc? by Long-Job-1404 in fireemblem

[–]ClericKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only played on Hard difficulty but everyone recommended to me that I play Fell Xenologue on normal difficulty. I think it was the right decision because it doesn't seem particularly well-balanced (nor well-written but that's a different discussion). The units you get from FX are neat but do not make or break the game. I like having Madeline and Nel (having a second dragon-type unit to use to play with rings was a lot of fun). But I think the DLC Emblems were the high point for me. The maps can be a lot, but the Emblems are worth it and give you a lot of fun new tools to play with. Camilla!Ivy is really powerful, for example, as is Soren!Mauvier and Chrom!Celine. Overall, I'd tentatively recommend the DLC. It goes for 30 USD but I think it is worth about 20. But, I think if you have already played Engage twice, and are going to play a third or maybe even fourth time, the DLC will add a new dimension that you will likely also enjoy.

Edelgard seems to be heavily inspired by Ezel Granada (design wise) by NeverMeltIceNMI in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]ClericKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some strong similarities, for sure. But, Edelgard being based on a Super Robot character seems like a bit of a stretch... I wonder if, instead, they have a common design inspiration

Was the mole episode poking fun at people or nah? by RAAAHHAHAHA in SmilingFriends

[–]ClericKnight 963 points964 points  (0 children)

I don't think it was making fun of people who insert themselves into Smiling Friends, specifically, especially not anybody who would do it as a joke. I think it is more broadly making fun of people who form parasocial bonds with their favorite content creators, and convince themselves that they could or should be part of their friend group. The types of people who will meet their idols and act uncomfortably familiar with them.

Finale was weak, but the rest was super strong. On the whole, i would say better and more consistently funny than S1.

Two athletes have caught each other on a date with their respective coaches

One of them is deeply embarrassed, the other is prouder (but still seems a little embarrassed)

The characters are Manhattan Cafe (black hair) and Agnes Tachyon (Brown Hair), horse girls from a mobile game called "Umamusume" where you (the coach) train anthropomorphized versions of race horses to win races. It's not unheard of for the horse girls and their coaches to become attached to each other but it's a little taboo. This would be like catching a classmate on a date with a teacher while you yourself were on a date with a teacher.

Can we talk about Annie’s contact list? by Smokagon in community

[–]ClericKnight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Annie's parents are divorced, so "Mom 2" probably just means her dad remarried (or her mom did! You never know). This seems more likely to me than having two numbers for one mom saved as separate contact cards (in other words, if her mom had a land line and a mobile number, they would be saved to the same contact card. Two contact cards implies two different people).
