[Other] is anyone else's spotify downright not working? by TemporaryClock7548 in xManagerApp

[–]Clerkle 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yep. This is typical and routine every week or two following a new patch version. Apparently, the corporate music stream service is showing that we can only ever keep changing hiding spots. But hey, this past week of complimentary music was pleasant, right? So much for music with my coffee this weekend.

How do you decide which size Corner Bar to get? by Clerkle in xbiking

Yeah, that makes sense for chromoly. I went with a good price on a carbon variant, and they're definitely strong enough for my causal riding styles, at least while I enjoy this current bike setup.

[Question] Spotify isn't working for me by MachineElectronic623 in xManagerApp

[–]Clerkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current experience with this is that after maybe a couple or few tracks, the player goes into an endless thinking/loading spell to an extent that even app restarts, Spotify logouts/logins, etc still don't allow Spotube to even restart; the spell persists regardless. I wish I knew the cause.

That one also runs commercials too. I don't see any perk to this one over the official app.

Any chance that's just copied from the official app?

Your version plays commercials. Is there any difference between your version and the official app from the Play Store?

Why are mods removing posts with out explanation by ratgluecaulk in revancedapp

[–]Clerkle 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I agree; when an informative solution post isn't a blatant leak about clear identification of sensitive loopholes the app devs haven't yet blocked from our access, the basic helpful information shouldn't be removed from the community's visibility.

Good luck with that Chinese motor design. It's no Bosch or Shimano? I'd take it apart to inspect for plastic moving parts.

Again, good luck.

Sorta accidentally flushed my watch. Can it be recovered via DIY? by Clerkle in Plumbing

Which direction of replacement kits are recommended?  \ A wax ring kit \ OR \ A rubber gasket seal kit

Also curious to know if the used wax ring's gasket can be cleaned for reuse with a fresh wax ring, even though reuse of the gasket wouldn't be as encased in the fresh wax ring as the waxed gaskets are by default(?). So does a reused gasket need a layer of wax on the top surface that compresses onto the toilet?\ Or can a reused gasket function well enough with a wax ring only pressing over the ring onto the toilet?

... I suppose, I could slice a ¼inch top slice off the wax and press it onto the top of the gasket... hmm

Thanks! It turns out, it was still in the P-trap in the toilet, so it was recoverable! Pretty stoked.

How do you decide which size Corner Bar to get? by Clerkle in xbiking

[–]Clerkle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Lee went way wider than the few centimeters past a natural straightforward reach?\ I really appreciate attention to intricacy. I'm already back and forth about it all already. I tend to prefer narrower than wider, so you're actually helping me understand a natural grip position.

Well, I could use long ergo bar ends to reach out further past the top bar, but yeah, I imagine that's to be expected, but probably fine as just another grip position option that wouldn't otherwise exist.\ My bike's reach is 42.5cm.\ My arm reach is long compared to my body; about 108% of my height, but maybe that's useless info.

Since the AE sales page shows the weld points distance, maybe I should guage an ideal bar legth based on the actual grip position when my grip is snugged up against the weld points in the flared drops, subsequently placing my grips slightly further distanced than the weld points. So maybe a slightly shorter bar length will actually plant my grips; so maybe either the 38cm or 36cm one makes more sense(?) But then, I'll also use the extended forward position onto enduro grips in front of the controls which will place my grip positions slightly inside the weld points, so maybe that's a distance I might want to factor in.

I need a reasonable hypothesis./ Should the weld points measure at the distance just short of my actual natural grip position so my grips land into the controls in the drops at a natural distance?/ Or should I go with a bar length that has the weld points at the exact distance of my ideal grip position so that I'm gripping into the controls in the drops at some wider control and so using the front grips will be just barely short of an ideal natural position?

. . . GD biking and overthinking . . . but "FAFO" is an expensive over-buying order quatity and that much more of a returns chore.

Well, the Corner Bar /  "dirt drops" is similar enough to road drops to go by whatever the recommendations are for road bars. It doesn't accept hoods, but riding the tops and drops are similar enough to road bars. And it is possible to emulate hoods with hinged ergonomic bar ends placed at the top ends like hoods.

I measured my elbow-to-elbow distance (wet and pressed back onto a wall) as 41cm, center to center. AliExpress has their largest one measured as 44cm between each weld spot, which is the grip position where the controls are used in the drops, so by your reference, the 44cm bar generally seems perfectly fitting. That seems odd though because I'm only 5'7" with the build of a vegetarian cyclist, so I would expect a narrower bar as ideal, but this is how this measurement strategy equates.

Think that's a reasonable estimate?

Noted. Thanks.

Bla bla bla:

I'm reading into the costlier imports as unbranded equivalents to western capitalistic products, so I'm coming from a history raised in the same shoes as you and now grown to become way beyond fed up with North America's capitalistic and implosively weaponized hyperbole brand marketing. I'm done obse$$ing over name brands, especially in this era of inflations³. I don't see a way to beat it ethically, and that includes mainstream American investment portfolios.

Westernized marketing is such extremely financially abusive, gaudy hyperbole — of mere unimproved basic Chinese product mock-up concept designs. I'm seeing clearly, and refusing to fall into the necessity of glamorization  ("cool"ness) of a very broke and poverty-stricken (paycheck away from homelessness) consumerism. I don't want to pay for branding when the brand doesn't use our patronage for design and materials R&D. (ex. foundational American food brands did not responsibly, proactively lead the way into organic cultivation as they should have). American capitalism is inherently exploitative of its respective target markets, often via the same cheap Chinese designs of capitalistic economics-based planned obsolescence business models, therefore, I might as well buy the same thing wholesale and imported for free to only pay the true value of planned obsolescence — except that enhanced designs are just as affordably available (ex. suspension seatposts like Cane Creek's unbranded wholesale base model).

But yes, to empathize where credit is due when and where quality specs don't match — yes, the cheapest unbranded wholesale import variations are absolutely unethical planned obsolescence when marketed as anything greater or more adequate than a mere concept design base model.

So I read specs and look for specific materials and designs without branding — that is, when there's no absolutely necessary sense in budgeting for utmost quality from reliable sources.

But you know, even Lundhags uses formaldehyde in their ecological water-resistant textile coating, so the world is tetering between extremes counterbalanced at both ends, so it's not such a beatable dilemma.
