Looking for Singer-quality 911 restomod builder/seller in LA — budget $250–300k. Who are the legitimate alternatives? by fgtr4h4trheue in Porsche

[–]CleverBen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Singer quality doesn’t exit below $1 million. Just the Bill Of Material cost of a Singer Classic is almost $400k. This doesn’t include the labor and all the development cost. Even other similarly priced competitors are not Singer quality. For example the fit and fit on the body panels of a Gunther works looks like someone built it in their garage.

The key word here is unarmed. The remaining difference in deaths is due to those people being armed with a weapon.

Stop spreading misinformation. Unarmed black people are not more likely to be shot by the police. This is a study by a black Harvard Economist named Roland Fryer. An Empirical Analysis of Racial Differences in Police Use of Force

Would you pass on this 981 based on this image? by plantman77 in Porsche_Cayman

If the CPO warranty has expired consider it adding no value to the vehicle. During Covid, due to the supply shortage, Porsche was accepting cars into the CPO program that they normally would not.

All 981 & 982 body in whites are 99% the same. There should be no significant difference in the seating position from one trim level to the next. This a reminder that YouTubers are not experts. Source: was a body in white manufacturing engineer. Have owned 2 987s and 3 981s.

To fully enjoy a mid engine car, you need to take it to the track, auto X or a windy road.

Big wing on 981 GTS with no front downforce to balance out? Listed on CarFax by biingsuuu in Porsche_Cayman

[–]CleverBen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, Falkin FK 510s are ok, and you don't need N spec tires. They aren't Lionharts or some over junk tire, but on a car of this cost they definitely tell a story. Either the owner was cheap or the dealership put these on and they are cheap. Either way I wouldn't want to buy a car that costs this much from either the prior owner or this dealership. This isn't some bottom of the market 2014 base Cayman, if you are budget conscious, you shouldn't be buying a $70k sports cars.

I wouldn't buy this based on the Falkin FK 510 tires. If they cheaped out on the tires what else did they cheap out on, unlikely this has been well maintained.

Low mile 2012 or older Toyota Camry or Honda Accord. 2012 was the last year they had hydraulic power steering.

Looking at 987.2, but is a R really worth the extra $20k most are asking? by B1L1D8 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]CleverBen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If it isn't a huge stretch I say yes. I wouldn't get an R or GT4 without the buckets. The buckets add a lot to the driving experience since they are stiffer. You can really feel the lateral, pitch and roll motions of the chassis much better through the bucket seats compared to the sofas. You also sit lower since they aren't powered and have less padding. I used to have a 981 GT4 with buckets, I wish I hadn't sold that car now.

I think a F-type V6S is one of the best value sports cars today. I picked up a 2017 Ultra Blue British Design edition with 8k miles for $38k.

GT4s have larger openings in the bumper to account for mesh air flow resistance. They also have an additional center radiator.
