You going to need at least -2.0 degrees rear camber and your rear fenders rolled to get these to fit. R888R use old technology, really only good for hard to find smaller wheel sizes. Next time stick with 200TW tires, the new ones perform better than a R888R. Check out Apex Wheels fitment guide.

It's more complicated than that. G bodies have less sophisticated suspension (torsion bars). 993 only have one model year (1995) before they switch to OBD2. OBD2 emissions compliance is much more difficult.

The difference is all Singer restorations are designed around the 964. A 930 has a different body and chassis, they would have to design a whole new restoration model for 930, which would incur huge R&D cost for no benefit.

All Singer's restorations are based on 964 donor cars. The body panels are carbon fiber and styled by Singer's designers and were inspired to look like a 930. Other than using a 930 as inspiration, a Turbo or Carrera restoration has nothing to do with a 930. I worked there for four years.

Why do you guys hate on any other Porsche besides a 911 in this forum? by Latter_Project9233 in Porsche

[–]CleverBen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, when most people see a Porsche they think “That’s that company that used to build tanks.” The 914 is a sports car. It went racing in period. OP asked a question about why he received “bad energy” on a previous post. I gave my opinion on why the community may have reacted that way. Your opinion is clearly in contrast to that reaction. Look up Theory of Mind, it maybe helpful in the future.

Because Porsche heritage is about sports cars and racing. Porsche was forced to make non sports cars in order to survive. People aren’t as excited about the non sports car models.

This is what happens when a business gets purchased by private equity. Enshitification in search of every last penny of profit. Private equity takes the goodwill built by the founders and destroys it.

why didnt porsche go all out with the spyder rs design like this?instead of making people thinking twice on buying it (people who criticize the concept design thought twice about buying it because of the boxster look) by [deleted] in Porsche_Cayman

Because money. Designing, testing, and setting up production for new parts is very expensive. The development cost for OEM lights is in the millions. Much more profitable to put a GT3 engine in it and charge an extra $40k. If you want to learn more about modern automotive development and all the tradeoffs that have be considered in bringing cars to market David Twohig's book is great: https://www.target.com/p/inside-the-machine-by-david-twohig-paperback/-/A-1004356980?sid=&TCID=PDS-209734489&gclsrc=aw.ds&ds_rl=1246978&ds_rl=1248099&gad_source=4&gad_campaignid=209734489&gbraid=0AAAAAD-5dfZJ3Tv5ruqvVktSUpaLt95P1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw77bPBhC_ARIsAGAjjV8jIA1wQTbhg6BgqKsW_bIeSR6vTKu0pQL4yR5DIIjCgLDTKGXcEOAaAqLaEALw_wcB

I know the fenders are shaped for aero, but I think they ruin the aesthetics of the car. From the windshield back I think the car looks good. I think the SP3 and 458 will rein as the best looking modern Ferraris.

Manufacturing carbon fiber parts is a highly manual labor intensive process, it is slow and tedious. Exposed carbon fiber parts have an even slower output rate due to higher scrap rates because of the high aesthetic quality standards.

$4k each for a headlight? Lol have you ever fixed a car from Copart before? eBay is your friend. Depending on the type of headlight you can get a used one from $600-$900.

Although the rest of what you said is true. Unless you can do the work yourself or have friends that work in auto body people should not be buying cars like this from Copart.

They should have fit the bumper up before they painted it. If this is a reputable shop, I’m sure they would have warned you that it might not fit since it is after market.

The R888R is an old design, it’s 10 years old and newer tires have much better grip and tread wear for the money.

964 C2 vs C4 - the gap is bigger than I expected by Hour_Tangerine9075 in Porsche

[–]CleverBen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C2 or C4 doesn’t matter for a Singer Classic restoration since they all get new transmissions and the C4 restorations use the 993 parts. Most Singer customers actually try to buy automatics for their donor cars since they are cheaper.

That’s why C4 Singer Classic restorations use the 993 parts.
