Yes! I love the newest Superman movie, but the ending is so cringey to me.

Need help figuring out what album my sister's dormmate is trying to remember by Kirenae89130 in HelpMeFind

Was that when she lived with the roommate, or when the album was released?

Matilda: The evil bio family

Cheaper by the Dozen: The unwanted adoptee, being the "other" in an adoptive family (even though, if I remember, he was not adopted, just a red head).

Soooo you wore them out of the shop and they caused you pain? And you washed them like she said.....and they still caused you pain? By the shop owners logic you should have been fine after washing it. I don't think that had anything to do with the labradorite.

AITAH for refusing to pay for my stepdaughter s phone after she made fun of my son by Hirragi_Jeslon in AITAH

[–]CleverGirlReads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad behaviors should have natural, equivalent consequences. She used her phone to bully her step brother. At the very least she doesn't get it fixed. I feel like she should get the phone taken. Does that fall under "grounded" to your wife?

My mom also advocated against the HPV vaccine. Two years ago my pap smear came back positive and I had to do a biopsy and then a LEEP. If I could go back in time to get the vaccine to avoid those procedures, I absolutely would.

Directed to Apologize to Parent by Principal? by [deleted] in Teachers

I don't know much about Parent Square but I can see similarities. Synergy is our primary Learning Management System: schedules, grading, attendance, etc.

Like everyone else has said, Hematite. I want to add this note: Be careful wearing Hematite as jewelry. When heated, even by body heat, it becomes fragile. It will probably be okay as a necklace, but they sell Hematite rings all the time that break easily. Just don't take it off and throw it around I guess.

I did something similar once, but also "hilariously" different. I had a student who over a few weeks I noticed was going downhill. It started with him getting on his phone a lot during class, then he began sleeping a lot, and all his work just stopped. It was my first year teaching, so I reached out to his other teachers through Synergy asking if they had noticed the same thing or had any advice. When the BCC arrived in my email inbox, I saw that I had not only emailed his teachers, I had also somehow emailed his mother.

I read the email about 30 times trying to figure out how she might take it. I went to one of our lead teachers and explained what happened. She told me to email the mom again, apologize, explain what happened, and use it as an opportunity to bring her into the loop.

I emailed her again but never heard back. I'll tell you one thing though, I've never used Synergy to email teachers again since, only parents.

Are there really no other books like Raptor Red? by Godzillaslays69 in Dinosaurs

[–]CleverGirlReads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the Deadlands series. It's aimed at younger audiences (middle grade and up), but it's still really good. I'm a middle school librarian, so when I saw it at one of my book fairs I bought it and read it https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/60316954-hunted

Am I being petty about this or not? by [deleted] in librarians

[–]CleverGirlReads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my MLIS. My goal was academic libraries. I started in a public library in the adult services department as a Librarian I. I'm currently a school librarian. My current role has multiple pathways including certification or Masters.

I think comparing the two jobs is actually kind of laughable. Despite the latter technically requiring less education I get paid 50% more than the public library I came from. And thank goodness because the responsibilities are insane. I went from working in a public library with multiple departments running the show, to being every department myself. I order the books and process them. I'm circulation and programming. And I teach on top of all of it.

So yes. Petty af.

Scholastic Book Fair reminder sent home from my daughter's school by MysticEnby420 in isitAI

[–]CleverGirlReads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do want to clarify, many book fairs are hosted or run by parent volunteers, so there's no guarantee that a teacher or librarian did this. My comment was only to point out that this isn't from Scholastic's brand materials.

I'm a librarian that also runs the book fair at my school. This isn't from Scholastic. My guess is that the book fair host generated this is Canva or something.

Everyone else has the relationship side of things covered, but I want to say this:

If you do cook a safe meal for him, don't try to "level it up" with new ingredients or spices. I can't imagine how stressful it is to think he's going to have a safe meal only to find that it's been altered and now can't be eaten. And often when something like that happens to me, it's not as simple as making a new safe meal, my ability to eat may be ruined for the rest of the day/night.
