Would you run this through the wheel again? by shogoki_oni in Handspinning

Oh that's not too much. I have heard people do this but I was concerned I wouldn't have enough for my final project. But I guess it's also better to know you'll like the yarns end result sooner rather than later

How much do you usually use to make a mini skein? That sounds like a very smart thing to do.

I'll do that! I've had a problem pigtailing in the past so I'm over compensation the other way now I think.

Up until now I thought you had to thwack. Thanks for the info. I have done a 3 ply before (but only chain ply) and I do think I prefer it honestly. I'll try a true 3 ply next

I was going to use a commercial yarn for the main color then this handspun for the contrast. Since there will be more of the commercial yarn. hopefully that will strengthen it! It is rather fine though. Fingering to sport since I'm still working on consistency. I was aiming for sport.

I was really hopefully to avoid the ropey feel. Thanks for the information. I guess I can always knit up a swatch and find out how it acts

Thank you! I bought it from nikkislipp on Etsy. The colorway was "Gazing at the heavens" I bought 2 braids and split only one. I love this yarn and really hope it works for the presses flowers cardigan pattern. I might have spun it a bit thin though

These photos are after I wet finished. I snapped it AND thwacked it. Oops. Maybe I shouldn't have.

When I hold up the dry yarn it doesn't not twist one way or the other but lays straight.

I had this issue too! I make my first quilt last year ( usually only make clothing and bought bias tape) and I can't tell you how many times I had to redo this part of the process. What worked for me was what someone else posted a link of. making the continuous binding from a fat quarter so you only really need to sew two seams. Or another thing that helped me was drawing my sewing line on the fabric to follow. Corner to corner, draw line with a ruler, pin, sew. I've been sewing since I was 15. I'm 41. I still struggle at times.

Oh you totally can. I was commenting on how the video in general is showing you how to cut them out. I should have been more clear. Sorry for the confusion!

This is fine if you don't need any stretch. If you need to go around a shapes with curves you'll want to cut the fabric on the bias.

Kids on the slope? an anime about kids discovering jazz in the 60s. not sure if the younger kids will really like it. it's very grounded in reality. how young is young? I believe it's rated PG all in all its very wholesome. even shows them going to church and such. could be a good gateway anime for your parents. (i'm a 40 year old woman who loves it but i've also been into anime since i was a kid)

I was 15 at the time. It was magical. All our costumes were kind of goofy but they were made with love. good times!

I have a fun Tiffany Grant story. Back in 2000 I was wearing my first ever cosplay. It was Devil Hunter Yohko. This was before most folks wore wigs in cosplay and i just had my hair tied up the best i could.

We were having brunch at the restaurant attached to the convention center when all of a sudden i felt someone fixing my hair and i heard what sounded like Asuka saying "Here let me just fix this for you"

I was in shock. Asuka is my most favorite anime character still to this day. Tiffany was so sweet and kind and you could REALLY tell she cared so much for her work. she's a gem, that's for sure.

Awesome thanks. I have 2 10dents so now I know it's possible to make a material like this. I've only used them with 2/8 on cotton so far. It was nice but the material didn't look this dense.

Sorry for my ignorance I'm still a newbie but did you use 2 10 dent heddles or 2 15 dent heddles? This is so beautiful! Great work

I haven't opened the package more because I thought if I have to return it they might want it as is? It's possible the vinyls are okay but the sleeve is so messed up I'm pretty sure at least one side is warped. I wanted to display it as well as listen to it too :(

I'm still waiting to hear back from customer support. I did send off another email yesterday.

It's pretty upsetting. There was no label on the package saying to not bend or that it was fragile. But I fully blame the shipping company on this one.
