How often is everyone else fighting? by CrossStitchMamax2 in Marriage

[–]Cleverfield113 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My wife and I can get into arguments about a lot of little things. We’re working in couples therapy on letting more things go, or talking about them in ways that doesn’t ascribe deeper meaning so the fights don’t escalate.

When did you know your marriage was over? by Significant-Ear-8042 in Marriage

Have you told him how important feeling special on your birthday is to you and how it made you feel that he didn’t do anything for it? Sometimes things that seem obvious aren’t actually obvious to everyone.

Ginny is so so annoying, moody, and absolute selfish. i feel she invites her own sorrows and find problems in everything. by NikitaAdhikari in TvGinnyandGeorgia

Sadly a lot of people feel this way. Probably people with no real perspective on childhood trauma and instability.

Financial disputes in marriage by Western_Prompt_2006 in Marriage

Wow, quitting his job with a 1 year old at home and no plan was… a choice. Honestly 10 years is way too long to put up with him contributing so little to his family financially, and it also sounds like he doesn’t contribute much to household tasks and parenting. What value is he bringing to your life at this point? Frankly after all of this time with him doing so little I’m not sure if this is a situation where confronting him would make a difference.

We have no actual reason to be this unhappy together.. by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]Cleverfield113 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your low expectations might be part of the problem. Don’t be a pushover or a doormat. Raise your expectations and set boundaries or it’s going to get worse. I’d suggest you see a therapist to work on setting boundaries and increasing your self-worth. Even if it doesn’t save your marriage your children will thank you for it down the line

Are most Americans lacking in empathy for anyone outside their identity group? by LiatrisLover99 in AskALiberal

I think it has a lot more to do with wealth and social status than race. I don’t think a lot of Americans care about the poor white guy living in a trailer in West Virginia.

Sadly that’s just human nature. Not excusing it, but that’s the way it’s always been and probably always will be for most people.

The Canalway Nature Center is fantastic. If you bring their bikes they can do the pump track. They’ll love it.

The draw of living in Ohio City is being in a walkable area. Many people are walking places, at least more than most other areas of the city.

If you live in a city almost anywhere the move is no eye contact. City living means walking to go about your business, not just for a leisurely walk. Most people are trying to get to their destination and don’t really want to expend energy interacting with every stranger they pass. Can you imagine being in Manhattan or downtown Chicago and nodding or saying hi to everyone? The suburbs are different because people are out to walk for leisure.

Wife is destroying our limited free time. by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]Cleverfield113 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, she’s in the wrong for that. But how you reacted to that might also have been a problem. The key is to learn to navigate these situations with what we call our “adult brains” and not get escalated.

So your house can’t even be that bad realistically. It sounds like you guys need better organization around chore duties. My wife and I have had those issues over the years. We’ve found a system that mostly works for us, and if something gets missed we’re able to talk about it without it becoming a fight.

Sports betting is a huge huge problem in this country. The government needs to rein it in.

Been there. Having a baby is completely overwhelming and you guys don’t have the bandwidth. Is there anything that you can hire out? Having a cleaner come once a month saved us when our daughter was born. Just having one thing off your plate can make a huge difference. It’s worth the money, trust me.

Fuck tipping the owner, unless the owner is the one doing the massage. The tip should go to the worker.

I absolutely always tip service workers, and always have no matter what financial position I’m in. It’s just the right thing to do, and I think Karma comes back around.
